Robert Welch, Founder of John Birch Society predicted today's problems with uncanny accuracy back in 1958 and prescribed solutions in 1974.
My only contention with the speech is the fourth solution regarding troop distribution. I agree we should pull all American troops out of areas where our presence is not necessary, but I don't believe that should be determined by whether or not Congress has declared war in those regions. First, because the Commander in Chief's option to wage war if necessary must remain available as dictated by the U.S. Constitution. Second, because declaration of war is geared towards war against specific national enemies, and in this new world of terrorism, the enemy is not defined in such a manner.
