Political Pistachio Radio Revolution Guest Speaks About Lockerbie Bomber's Release

What Does the Lockerbie Bomber’s Freedom Mean for the War Against Terrorism?

National Security Expert says: "The West cannot allow those at war with us to claim all the privileges we give to wayward citizens who commit common crimes"

John C. Wohlstetter is a national security and foreign policy expert and the founder and editor of the blog "Letter from the Capitol." He is the senior fellow of technology and democracy at the Discovery Institute and a board member of the Hudson Institute. He is the author of the book "The Long War Ahead and the Short War Upon Us."

New reports have surfaced suggesting that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown may have been involved in the Lockerbie bomber's release. Because the terrorist was released to a Hero's welcome in Libya, Gordon Brown is feeling the pressure as U.S. citizens are talking about boycotts. National security and foreign policy expert, John Wohlstetter joins Political Pistachio Radio tonight to explain how the terrorist's release is a tragedy that exposes the drastic difference between the West's legal system, and radical Jihadists' boiling hatred towards freedom.

Lawfare Wins Again: The real crux of the matter is the law: The West cannot allow those at war with us to claim all the privileges we give to wayward citizens who commit common crimes. The Scots could easily have finessed the appeal with delays, and the world would scarcely have noticed.

Ironically, Obama protests: It seems to be lost on Obama's Administration that it has advanced efforts to treat terror detainees more like common criminals.

Terminal Illness? How carefully did the Scots investigate whether the terrorist's illness is in fact terminal? Should his ailment go into miraculous (or not so miraculous) remission, a severe backlash will affect all Scottish and English officials.

Bottom Line: Expect more outrages like the Lockerbie case in the future, unless the West suffers a catastrophic attack that definitively discredits legalism as a prime weapon in fighting Islamist terror.
