Obama: I Give Nicer Gifts

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Barack Obama, hamming it up with his favorite New Age Freaky person (that would be Oprah Winfrey) and Michelle Obama, joked about his comment on ABC that he gives nicer gifts than he gets. To clarify his point, Barry pointed at Michelle's double-stranded pearl necklace that was a gift for their wedding anniversary.

Like with everything else with President Obama, all one must do is look around to see the truth.

Honestly, I really don't care if Obama is a great giver, or a cheap bastard. I could care less if he gave his wife a pearl necklace, or a blender and a vacuum, for their anniversary. It really doesn't matter if he is a generous gift-giver, or not.

My concern here is his character, and the fact that Barack Obama is a habitual liar. In fact, lying comes so naturally to him that an entire political party, and the majority of the media, falls for it without question daily.

So, to determine if Obama gives nicer gifts than he receives, as he claims, let's rewind a little bit.

Obama presented British Prime Minister Gordon Brown a DVD set of Hollywood films, which apparently did not work on a European player. It was later reported by the British Press that Gordon is not a movie buff, either.

Obama presented the Queen of England an iPod, which had a number of his speeches downloaded to it, in addition to footage of her visit to America.

Obama presented Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd a rare original copy of the sheet music for "The Star Spangled Banner." (okay, two out of three sucked)

In return, British Prime Minister presented Obama with an ornamental desk pen holder made from the oak timbers of Victorian anti-slaver HMS Gannet, once named HMS President. Mr Obama placed the gift in the Oval Office on the Resolute desk which was carved from timbers of Gannet’s sister ship, HMS Resolute. Brown also gave President Obama the framed commission for HMS Resolute, a vessel that came to symbolise Anglo-US peace when it was saved from ice packs by Americans and given to Queen Victoria. Finally, Mr Brown gave a first edition set of the seven-volume classic biography of Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert. Brown also brought gifts for Obama’s daughters, a rather gracious act, considering.

The Queen gave the President a silver framed signed photograph of herself and the Duke of Edinburgh – apparently a standard present for visiting dignitaries.

Australian Prime Minister Rudd gave Obama a personally signed and inscribed copy of Thomas Keneally's biography of Abraham Lincoln.

So, Mr. Obama, do you give nicer gifts than you receive?

Hardly.

So why would Obama say something like that? Could it be he is trying to elevate himself, and make himself look better, despite the fact that he is a lying, cowardly, and naive poor excuse for an American President?
