Obama's Health Care and Copenhagen Press Conference

By Douglas V. Gibbs

In a short burst of words to the press, Barack Obama indicated that the Health Care Legislation is a reality. Without saying specifically, it seems to be that he was letting us know that the Democrats have reached the 60 votes necessary to pass the Senate Health Care Bill.

Their strong arm tactics, bribery, and threats finally twisted enough arms to vote against the will of the American People.

Some of the criticism of the Health Care Legislation has come from leftists like Howard Dean who are angry at the number of compromises in the bill, as well as the provision that mandates citizens to purchase health insurance under threat of fines or jail time. Without the public option in place, reason these voices of dissent, this puts more money in the pockets of those big bad insurance companies, while still not admittedly covering all of the folks who are currently without health insurance.

President Obama also indicated that the bill has penalties for insurance companies for raising their rates too high, or for denying coverage for pre-existing conditions (sort of like getting into the face of a home insurance company for refusing to pay claims to people who get fire insurance after their house burns down, and demands the insurance company covers it). Obama also said that no longer will insurance companies be able to deny coverage to children. The bill is said by the Democrats to be able to protect patient's choice of doctor, and disallow insurance companies from dropping coverage if the insured becomes sick, while also no longer forcing the patients to spend high amounts out-of-pocket on their care.

The President stated that the health care legislation will save the consumers money (if you consider driving up the cost of medical care, and fining and/or jailing consumers for not having insurance saving money), strengthen medicare (as they cut medicare drastically), and will be the largest deficit reduction plan in over a decade (spending more money cuts deficits? In what universe?) - Obama claimed the legislation with result in a $132 billion deficit reduction over the next decade, and result in more than a trillion dollars in deficit reduction in the decade after that (again, I am trying to figure out how creating more bureaucracy, spending more money, and taking more control over a private industry with more mandates and regulations creates a deficit reduction). According to Barack Obama, 30 million more Americans will be covered (hardly covering everyone like they promised if the uninsured number is 47 million people as they claim).

The Health Care Legislation, said the president, will bring big changes (toward communism), fundamental reforms (leading us in a direction of becoming another failed socialist state), save money (by spending more money) and saving lives (by making them wait an extra few hours in the emergency room because it is so loaded with people).

Obama then talked about Copenhagen, saying that the world economies came to agreement in climate change negotiations, but we need to build on the progress to sustain emissions over time. He claimed that the Climate Change agreements will result in an increase of clean energy usage, while helping the economy by creating jobs (yeah, as it destroys more jobs than it creates with a face first plunge into the world of unproven green energy technology) and a strong economy (destruction of jobs, while raising energy costs which will affect all industries, and will result in higher prices to go along with the hyper-inflation that is on its way because of Obama's out of control spending). Obama finished with a comment that combating man-made global warming (err, uh, Climate Change) will be putting people back to work. . . as a powerful winter storm, before winter has even begun, hammers the entire East Coast.

Okay, so we are passing a health care plan that nobody wants, and selling that the earth is under an incredible warming phase, while blizzards struck Copenhagen and the East Coast. Sure, believable, if you are suffering from denial.

The Democrat Party is jumping off a political cliff, expanding government in ways that the people don't want, because their Marxist agenda is more important to them than even their political careers.
