Is That A WMD In Your Pants, or . . . ?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The sizzling-crotch on a Nigerian terrorist aboard an American wide-body passenger jet was enough for the Muslim terrorist to secure an indictment for possessing, and attempting to use, a weapon of mass destruction in his underwear. For this heinous crime he could get 90 years in prison, according to the news media.

For the act of war aboard the Northwest flight he should be sent to Guantanamo Bay, receive extensive interrogation through the use of enhanced interrogation techniques if necessary, and he should be sent before a military tribunal so that they can send him on his merry way to Allah.

The Left's response to my statement will be two-fold, so let's address them both.

Keith Olbermann, in response to Mike Gallagher's comment that "at the airports there should be a separate line to scrutinize anyone with the name Abdul or Ahmed or Mohammed," responded with the question: "Richard Reid?"

Of course Mr. Gallagher, and myself, are not saying we should replace all security measures with profiling. We are suggesting that profiling people who meet the profile of Islamic terrorists should be added to the existing security measures. And, let's use some common sense. Of course not all terrorists are going to be obviously Muslim, but nearly all of them are. Knowing this, why is it that the security forces of airports are converging on folks that are obviously not terrorists while letting folks that fit the bill walk on by? Could it be that their political correctness is so severe that they are afraid the person may be "offended" by being considered a possible terrorist? Or maybe they watch Keith Olbermann's countdown of hate and are afraid to be characterized as a racist!

When it comes to Muslims that fit the bill, it is better to check and be wrong, than to not check and be wrong.

The other argument will be that Richard Reid received a federal trial just as the crotch-bomber is, and they don't get why that didn't bother those on the Right, while right-wingers are all up in arms over the Gitmo trials and the trial of Mr. Sizzle-pants.

The facts of history is the key, here, of which leftists rarely know the truth regarding, because they would rather revise history to fit their agenda.

When Richard Reid, who was a Muslim convert who was admittedly a member of al-Qaeda, and who also went by the names Abdul Raheem and Tariq Raja, attempted his act of terror months after the 9/11 attacks, before security measures were completely in place, and before the decision that these people should be tried by military tribunal had been reached. It was early in the war after the September 11 attacks, and the Bush Administration was still trying to get a handle on the best way to handle this new threat. In other words, at that time, military tribunals were not yet considered an option.

One more thing comes to mind regarding the Nigerian crotch-bomber. If what was up his posterior was a Weapon of Mass Destruction, but in Iraq the Left always accused us of never finding WMDs, even though mustard gas was found, other evidence of bio-weapons and nuclear ambitions were located, would we have been off the hook with Hussein and his WMDs if we had checked his underwear?

Oh, and one more thing for Keith Olbermann, being the idiot that he is. The Right is not calling for racial profiling. Islam is not a race.
