Scott Brown May Defeat Martha Coakley

By Douglas V. Gibbs
All polls are showing Scott Brown (R) beating Martha Coakley (D) on the eve of the special election of Ted Kennedy's former Senate seat in Massachusetts. During the candidate's rallies, Coakley and Obama were unable to fill the room, while Scott Brown's rally was overflowing with constituents, including a thousand of folks outside the center cheering on the sidewalks and streets. While Obama was getting heckled at Coakley's rally for his support for partial birth abortion and allowing botched abortions to die on the table, leaving Obama to say "We're okay here" because there was no solution being presented by his teleprompter, Scott Brown was being cheered by thousands.

Scott Brown is not winning because he is a Republican. Scott Brown looks to win tomorrow because he is anti-big government, and against the Marxist policies being pushed by the Democrats. The Republicans are being given an opportunity here to stop the cess-pool of Washington from taking more control over the American economy, and from taking away more liberties. This election is about the direction the Democrats are taking this nation. The popularity of Scott Brown in this election is all about the unpopularity of what is going on in Washington.

A win by Brown will break the Democrat's super-majority in the Senate, and Scott Brown has been vocal about the fact that if elected he plans to vote against leftist health care legislation, Cap and Trade, tax increases, and spending increases, while supporting a strong military, and the war on terror.

Democrats have been indicating they will attempt to delay seating Brown, should he win, so that they can hurry up and pass their health care bill. Or they may try to steal the vote to keep Brown from winning. Either underhanded action by the Democrats would be another piece of a pile of mounting evidence showing the arrogance of the Democrats, and their willingness to be dismissive of the will of the American Public.

Brown is supported by conservatives across the nation, despite the fact that Scott Brown is not purely pro-life, and on Massachusetts issues he votes 80% of the time with the Democrats in the Massachusetts State Assembly. However, those issues are state issues, not federal issues, and if Scott Brown recognizes that Constitutional reality, his social moderation will not be an issue.

Obama went to bat for Coakley because the Democrats know that Martha is in trouble. Problem is, part of the reason she is in trouble is because Obama is in trouble.
