MTV Loses The Music In Their Logo

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The new MTV logo removes the words "Music Television."

Did the leadership of MTV finally realize the channel seems to be about everything but music, anymore?

That is one of the reasons I lost interest in MTV early in its journey to becoming the cable giant it has become.

Music Television is supposed to play music videos, and MTV's music video attention span is shorter than a gnat's.

Thank God for Country Music Television (a.k.a. CMT).

Of course, if someone really wants to watch MTV music videos, there are a plethora of MTV channels to choose from, and at any given time at least one of them is playing music videos.

I miss the good old days, though. You know, when music videos were productions that stimulated the senses, and VJs actually talked about. . . music.
