Reconciliation Dead?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The Parliamentarian has ruled that the Democrats cannot use reconciliation for the Health Care legislation.

No kidding. . . that's what conservatives have been saying all along. Reconciliation is for budget related legislation only, and specifically for pieces of legislation that would reduce the deficit.

Of course this won't stop the Democrats from using every dirty tactic they can think of to try and get this thing through. Note that the Senate Bill is still floating around out there, and the Democrats know that nothing else will get through the Senate now that they lost their super majority - so, whether the House likes it or not, the Democrats will try to get the Senate Bill to pass the House of Representatives, as is.

And there are a lot of Democrats in the House that are not hip with the garbage the Senate Bill is packed with.

Don't think that the Democrats won't try reconciliation despite the ruling of the Parliamentarian, either. Remember when the Democrats laughed at Sarah Palin for saying the Vice President is the President of the Senate? Well, guess what? The Vice President is the President of the Senate after all, and the Democrats will now possibly try to use that little tid-bit of information to have Joe Biden override the Parliamentarian.

Remember, these people are liars, and they are sleezy, so don't put anything past them.

It still amazes me with all of the payoffs and bribes and dirty tactics the voters don't see how sleezy the Democrat Party truly is.

Or have they?
