The Democrats are discussing passing the Health Care legislation by using something called "The Slaughter Solution," which allows passage of the bill without a vote. That's right, in order to save members of congress from the wrath of the voters, and public outrage, they are holding a no vote to pass it.
The U.S. Constitution requires a vote as per Article I, Section 7.
The Democrats claim the Republicans have used such a maneuver themselves. That turned out to be a lie (what a surprise!), and even if it wasn't, it would still not make the procedure constitutional.
This is a great example of the corruption of the Congressional Democrats, and it is a betrayal of the American People.
When I first heard about this option (Slaughter Solution) I posted a cartoon on this site and noted that the idea was unconstitutional. Then I moved on because I didn't believe that even the Democrats are that corrupt. How deceptively corrupt must you be to try to justify passing a bill without a vote?
The leftists claim Health Care legislation is a gift, yet they can't even get enough of their own party members to vote for it, and now they wish to hide from being exposed as voting for it through this corrupt option they call the Slaughter Solution.
Pelosi has even said, "We will use any means necessary to pass the bill."
She apparently meant that she was even willing to break the law (Constitution is the law of the land, therefore the Slaughter Solution breaks the law).
They are literally subverting the Constitution, and making up the rules as they go along.
Once must ask why? Why are they so desperate to pass "any" health care bill, regardless of what is in it, despite what the people desire, and by any means necessary regardless of the Constitution, House rules, or the rule of law?
Pelosi wants them to pass the bill this week without it being read, without it being fully written, and without it being voted on. This is a blatant perversion of the law, and is a characteristic of tyranny.
This is an example of what authoritarians do.
By ignoring the Constitution it means these people feel that contracts mean nothing (Constitution is a contract with the American People).
How anyone can be okay with the payoffs, the bribery, the corruption, is beyond me. And the fact is, even after all of the corruption and payoffs they have still not been transparent about it, and they don't have the votes.
But going back to the first question, why ram it through this way?
Communism is like a virus. A small piece is put into place, then it grows, and corrupts, and makes nations sick.
The Health Care bill is a virus they are trying to infect this nation with, which will lead to universal health, single payer, government controlled health care.
They can't even run a post office, or Amtrack. Medicare is wrought with fraud and abuse while denying more claims than private insurance. Government runs nothing well, and they wish for us to hand over health insurance?
Absolute insanity.
