How Many Nuclear Secrets Can We Give Away?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

First the Democrats declared the limits of our nuclear usage, in a sense showing our poker hand, and letting the enemy know how far they can go before they make us mad enough to nuke them.

Now, the total number of nuclear warheads is being advertised by the Democrats.

I am sure, if someone wanted to know bad enough, they could have figured out our total number of nuclear warheads. I am sure that information is somewhere. But you don't go around volunteering that information. Military strength depends as much on perception as it does the actual numbers.

When I was in the U.S. Navy we told the Soviet Union that our vessel's maximum speeds were 30 knots. We could go faster, but we weren't going to tell the Russians that. I am sure they figured we could go faster, but they didn't know our exact speeds, which made them, we were hoping, to second-guess their considerations, and hesitate when it came to deciding if they could out-run us.

Often, military strength is much like a poker game with bluffs and truths mixed up as much as possible. Perception is the name of the game, and Obama doesn't like that - so he is showing our poker hand for all to see in order to neuter the image of our ability to provide security to our citizens.

Such actions is putting our nation at risk of attack, and is a clear indication as to why community organizers are bad choices for President of the United States.

Interestingly enough, Hillary Clinton said, "We think it is in our national security interest to be as transparent as we can be about the nuclear program of the United States." Yet they weren't willing to be transparent to the American People about the negotiations regarding the Health Care legislation? Whose opinion matters more? The enemies? Or the citizens?
