Another Earthquake Strikes East of San Diego, this one was a 5.7 Magnitude

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Earlier this evening my dogs began to bark. Moments later, the house began to shake, and the chimney sounded like it was about ready to crumble brick by brick.

The 5.7 magnitude earthquake was felt all the way up to Los Angeles. San Diego's baseball game was interrupted as the shaker rattled the stadium. Several smaller aftershocks have followed.

This earthquake comes not too long after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake rattled Calexico in the same region. Tonight's earthquake was centered five miles southeast of Ocotillo (a great place to go dirt bike riding) near the U.S.-Mexico border and the Salton Sea, and due east of San Diego.

In San Diego there were reports of things falling off of shelves, but no significant damage, or injuries, have been reported.

Recently, there have been swarms of earthquakes throughout the Southern California region. Talk of the Big One seems to be at an all-time high.
