Rumor Central Says Obama Will Postpone November Elections

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Inflation is on the move, and is the price we pay for all the government benefits we were told were free. The federal government is attacking the private industry "for our own good," and is spending and spending and spending, and is declaring that the "recovery" is dependent upon the spending. If that is the case, then stopping spending kills the pseudo-recovery.

How long can you spend before you run out of money? Ooops, too late.

Free Market principles is what turns around economies, but the jackasses in Washington prefer government control over everything.

Obama, and the Congressional Democrats, however, are not following the typical strategy of hard left radicals. The strategy normally to not be so obvious about reneging on promises made, nor should they ever allow it to appear that they are socialists, even though their platforms are indeed socialist in nature. The Left has always used creeping incrementalism. They know they must never deliver so much socialism that the American People will discover the true nature of the game they are playing.

Ooops, too late.

Now, a bloodbath awaits the Democrats in November.

What to do, what to do?

Rumors around the Conservative forums says that in late summer or early fall a crisis will arise that will give the Democrats the ability to circumvent the coming Democrat slaughter in the 2010 elections.

I don't completely buy into this rumor, per se, but it is interesting, so stay with me on this one.

The belief by those writing about this is that as the November elections approach, a crisis will arise that will accompany some violent happening that will provide the Democrats with the opportunity to declare "martial law" in America, which will in turn, because of the nature of the emergency, involve the postponement of the elections. This, then, will enable Obama, and his lunatic Congressional buddies, to move the current administration into its true dictatorial identity.

As much as I think people like Obama, and the lunatic left, would love to do something like this, I don't think they are that stupid, or that insane.

The crisis would have to be manufactured. As much as the Left tries to project that their opposition is violent (i.e. the Tea Party Movement), the fact is that it is just not true. Any violence would have to be initiated by the government, and I don't think they are that stupid, or that the military would go along with such an attempt.

One thing is for sure, however: If violence did erupt, it is like a snowball rolling down hill - it can only get bigger, and more destructive.

Understand, as well, that the Democrats understand that our society is not the kind to fall for the most obvious totalitarian tactics - hence the creeping incrementalism thing. And the complexities that would be involved with such a coup is beyond the mindless abilities of this current cast of idiots, anyway.

Martial Law in the United States, at this point, would be difficult to maintain, as well. The citizens are armed, and such a move would trigger an internal war. Until the Left is able to unarm the populace, their dreams of total rule through force is an impossibility.

Government fears an armed populace, hence the primary reason behind the creation of the 2nd Amendment, in the first place.

The political ramifications of a move to postpone elections and declare martial law, without complete success, would be the complete destruction of the Democrat Party, something else the liberals, I am sure, are aware of. Therefore, I do not see them doing what the rumor suggests, nor do I even think the thought has crossed most of their feeble minds.

And if they were able to postpone the elections, how long would it be? Wouldn't that just be delaying the inevitable, and making the potential of the bloodbath even worse?

Martial Law, or the delay of elections, would not exactly sit well with the people.

In other words, if they were to do something funny with the November elections, they would have to permanently eliminate them, and take over the government in total.

So, as much as the rumor seems reasonable in the minds of some, a break-down of it reveals that the paranoia is unsupported by the facts of the matter.

This is not to say that the thought of a complete takeover of the federal government through means that includes eliminating the November Elections hasn't crossed the mind of a couple of the Democrats.
