Obama Stops Prosecution of USS Cole Attackers

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The trial of Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, the USS Cole Bomber, has been shelved by Barack Obama's minions.

Obama is not a fan of Military Tribunals. He is too worried that the terrorists may not receive what he thinks is a fair trial. However, after a lot of public backlash regarding trying terrorists in civilian court, Obama and team decided it would be in the best interest to reform Military Tribunals.

Then, as the USS Cole case sat in wait, almost a decade after al-Qaeda attacked the USS Cole in Yemen, the Obama administration has halted prosecution of the alleged coordinator of the suicide mission that killed 17 sailors and wounded dozens.

The filing reads: "no charges are either pending or contemplated ... in the near future" against 45-year-old Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, who has been held at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp.
