Representative Joe Wilson was Right! Obama Lied!

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Let's time warp back for just a moment. It was about a year ago, or will be in September, and President Obama had just said "There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

Joe Wilson, in a move that was considered to be an incredible breach of congressional decorum, unable to contain himself any longer, shouted out, "You lie!"

The incident immediately drew criticism from lawmakers of both parties, while becoming a rallying cry for those in the world of voters, and Tea Party ralliers, who have been increasingly convinced that President Obama lied about whether or not illegals would be insured by Obamacare, and who have been convinced that Obama has been lying about much much more.

Wilson's statement, it seemed, wasn't just regarding the particular sentence referencing health care for illegal aliens, but of the entire text of the President's beloved health care package in general. The whole thing, from beginning to end, has been a great big lie from the very start, to the point that to get it passed the Democrats actually had to bribe members of their own party for votes.

In the speech that Wilson accused of Obama being a liar in, Obama also said of the Democrat Party's health care legislation, "Put simply, our health care problem is our deficit problem. Nothing else even comes close. These are the facts. Nobody disputes them. The plan I'm announcing tonight would meet three basic goals. It will slow the growth of health care costs for our families, our businesses, and our government."

The GOP criticized Obama's claim that the health care legislation is deficit neutral. The Democrats swore the plan would actually reduce the quickly rising national debt, though common sense stated otherwise.

One wonders if the Democrats truly believed their rhetoric regarding the move towards socialized medicine. Did they really believe that it would not cost the federal government anything? Did they actually believe that Obamacare would actually start moving the national debt dial backwards? Or were they bold face lying?

I am leaning on believing the latter.

Whether Obama was lying, or not, the Democrats are well aware that their numbers, and the numbers of the Congressional Budget Office, were not only false, but wildly ridiculous, and within the realm of fantasy.

How do I know that they realize their numbers were wrong, or that they have been caught lying?

The Politico is reporting that the Democrats running for reelection know that the health care law is not a good thing to run on - in fact, nothing the Obama administration has done is good to run on (hence the reason I believe suddenly Obama orchestrated the end of the combat mission in Iraq) - and the Democrats have stopped trying to defend the health care legislation, and are abandoning claims that it will reduce costs and the deficit, and instead are being told to stress a promise to "improve it."

I wonder if those improvements are code for turning it into a single-payer socialistic government controlled system?

They lied, they know it, they've been caught, and their way of handling it is to stop talking about the part they were lying about.

Too late, liberals, the American People know you lied, and despite Biden's idiotic claim that November isn't lost, the Democrats will lose both the House and the Senate in November because of it.

The question is, once in office, will the Republicans have the fortitude to defund and stop the insanity injected into the federal government by the hard left Democrats?
