Train Wreck In Fontana California To Be Investigated

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Traffic along Interstate 10 was backed up for miles, this morning. Cherry Avenue was closed. The news was that a major train wreck had occurred, where two trains had collided near the freeway. One of the conductors lost an arm in the accident. Doctors had to remove his arm in order to free him from the wreckage. The conductor remains in critical condition. One other person, the engineer, was hospitalized for injuries received in the accident as well.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the collision in Fontana, which also resulted in a hazardous chemical spill.

The investigation may take several weeks before discovering the cause. Signal malfunction is being looked into as one of the possible causes. Operator error is not outside the realm of possibilities.
