H.R. 6253: Doing For the Border That Which Is Already Prescribed by the U.S. Constitution

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Article IV, Section 4, or the United States Constitution tasks the federal government with the duty of protecting the States against invasion. The way to do this is to use an armed agency, such as the Border Patrol, or National Guard, as a way to secure the border.

H.R. 6253 is a piece of legislation sponsored by Ted Poe, a Republican Representative out of Texas, which is designed "To utilize the National Guard to provide support for the border control activities of the United States Customs and Border Protection of the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes."

In other words, since the Democrats ignore the U.S. Constitution, a Republican has seen fit to propose legislation demanding the U.S. Government act in a Constitutional manner.

Problem is, the Rule of Law means nothing to the Left, unless of course an activist judge, who has no legislative authority, claims that their opinion is the rule of law.

If H.R. 6253 passes, will that force the government to secure our border?

Remember, a border fence was passed into law too, and the Democrats have avoided making that happen as well.
