Muslim Invasion of Europe, Again

By Douglas V. Gibbs

At the end of World War I, the Ottoman Empire was defeated, and the Islamic caliphate was dismantled. The Ottoman Empire had lasted since 1299, finally facing defeat in 1923. However, after World War II, with the creation of Israel, the Muslim countries joined in unison to attack Israel. The Jewish State won the war, but Islam had proven even without the unity it enjoyed under the Ottoman Empire, Muslims were willing to unite in the hopes of destroying Israel, and any other non-Muslim nation that dared stand against them.

The first two foreign wars the United States fought were the Barbary Wars against Islam (1801-1805, 1815). The wars were during the administrations of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. Jefferson owned a Koran for the purpose of understanding the enemy. The United States Marines are now called leathernecks because of the leather collars they war during those wars - collars designed to protect them from the attempts by the Muslims to behead the American Marines.

At the Battle of Vienna in 1683 Islam was poised to overrun Europe. Islam was stopped once again. Vienna had been under attack by the Ottoman Empire for two months. The battle marked the turning point in the Ottoman–Habsburg wars, the 300-year struggle between the forces of the Central European kingdoms and the Muslim Ottoman Empire.

The Siege of Vienna in 1529 was the first attempt by the Ottoman Empire to capture the city of Vienna, Austria. It was not the first time Islam had worked to overrun Europe. The Ottoman Empire was at its greatest extent in regards to its expansion into Europe. Islam's failure to conquer Vienna in 1529 was an important victory, considering that prior to that defeat of the Muslim armies there had been almost a century of unchecked conquest throughout eastern and central Europe by Islam.

In 732 the Muslims had advanced a thousand miles north of Gibralter to control Spain and southern France up to the banks of the Loire. The Muslim army came within a couple hundred miles of the gates of Paris, but were met by a French force that held its ground, and killed the Muslim military leader. With their commander dead, the Muslims headed south. Had the Muslim armies won that battle, the complexion of Europe may have been very different through history.

Now, the conquest of Europe is being fought using a different means. Islam has now infiltrated deeper into Europe than ever before, and is poised to change the European identity into something Islam nearly accomplished so many times in history.

The Crusades were a response to the invasion of Europe and Jerusalem by Islam. We are fighting the same war. Only the times have changed.
