Embassy Attacks in Rome Continue

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Less than a week after an anarchist group attacked two embassies in Rome with package bombs, another similar bomb has been found at the Greek Embassy in Rome. No one was harmed in the latest incident, partly because of heightened security measures in place as a result of the other two bombings at the Chilean and Swiss embassies, which had injured two people.

There were also reports of suspicious packages at the embassies of Venezuela, Monaco and Denmark, but they turned out to be false alarms.

Though the bombings are being blamed on a local anarchist group, one wonders if the attacks are somehow connected with Italy's recent decision to declassify Islam as a religion, thereby stripping Muslim organizations of tax perks.
