Over 230 homes in La Canada Flintridge and La Crescenta are being evacuated due to possible debris flow resulting form the heavy rains in Southern California. These areas are also the regions that suffered from wild fires last summer. Residents have been asked to evacuate by 9:00 p.m.
The most intense part of the rainstorm should be moving through Southern California through tonight, with the most significant rainfall lasting for twelve hours, beginning at 10:00 p.m.
This storm should move out late Wednesday or early Thursday, giving Southern California a short break before another storm, though a much smaller one, moves in Saturday evening (also known as Christmas Night).
The rain over the past week has caused about 21,000 Southern California Edison customers to lose power on Monday night.
Various rescues in flooded areas by emergency services has been ongoing.
Added Note: California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency in six counties due to storm conditions.
