Liberal Incompetence and National Insecurity

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Though the powers of the federal government are supposed to be limited to only the authorities granted to Washington by the U.S. Constitution, one of the things that the federal government can do, and is expected to do to its utmost ability, is protect the union. National Security is an important role the federal government must not only put heavy effort into, but the people involved in National Security, especially the high ranking officials who make critical decisions in regards to keeping this nation safe, must be knowledgeable of all security matters worldwide.

The Democrats have been the model for incompetence for the last three years. The Obama administration has been wracked with evidence of incompetence as well. Obama continuously shows us how in-over-his-head he truly is, and how badly he, and his cohorts, can run anything, much less an entire nation.

But does that incompetence and idiocy even spill over into our National Security?

Unfortunately, the answer is a big fat affirmative.

James Clapper, President Barack Obama's Director of National Intelligence, was in an interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer. She asked about the arrests of 12 alleged terrorists in the United Kingdom during a large anti-terror sweep during the approach to the Christmas season.

Mr. Clapper knew nothing of the counterterrorism operations by the British, nor anything about the arrests. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and Chief Counterterrorism Advisor John Brennan, also participating in the Sawyer interview, indicated that they were aware of the arrests.

The arrests had just been all over the media a few hours earlier, and the average blogger even knew about them, but the top intelligence guy didn't. What does that say about the top people tasked with protecting our nation? I don't care if it had only been a matter of hours. These people are in place to be in the know.

Obama's national security team doesn't stop there with their incompetence, however.

Janet Napolitano, the Secretary of Homeland Security, assured us that the department is working hard to keep us safe. In fact, they are working 364 days a year, to keep the American People safe.

364 days a year? Uh, which day a year do they not work to keep us safe? And do the Muslims know which day of the year that is?

Could you imagine if Bush, or any of his National Security team, had said something like that? The media would have milked it through Christmas, and the liberal bloggers would have been slobbering all over their keyboards over it.

Pure incompetence, in my opinion, and evidence that these people seriously suffer from a chronic case of stupidity. . . either that, or they just don't care enough to be on top of protecting this nation.
