Mitch Daniels Out, Tim Pawlenty In

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Mitch Daniels has decided not to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. His questionable positions regarding tax hikes, compromising conservative principles, and the social issues concerned some GOP voters, and his decision to not run brings a huge sigh of relief.

When trying to decide if to run, Daniels has consistently indicated that the primary factor in his decision is his family. Apparently, the wife won out.

Daniels follows Huckabee, Haley Barbour, and Donald Trump as the latest Republican to opt out of running in 2012.

Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota has announced he will run. Of those running, Pawlenty is a favorite of mine. Though I would prefer to see Allen West and Rand Paul in the race, I support Pawlenty, Michelle Bachmann, and Herman Cain.

Time will tell when it comes to who will be left standing this time next year. The possible entrance of Texas Governor Rick Perry may, yet, change the landscape of the coming campaign.
