GOP Stands Ground, Work To Produce Their Own Plan

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Like the typical liberal progressive, Obama believes himself to be a part of an elite ruling class that is somehow above the lowly American citizen. Rather than be a statesman as the founders originally intended, Obama sees himself, and his collaborators, as "professional politicians." - which means, he could care less what you think.

This "look down your nose" attitude is exactly the reason the Tea Party pulled off their landslide victory last year.

If these people want real spending cuts, let's eliminate Obamacare - Oh, wait, that's how the Left plans to control people through their rationing panels.

Unfortunately, the GOP doesn't have the guts to take that issue on head on just yet.

In the debt talks, the Democrats have made it clear that not only do they not care what the American people thinks, or what the GOP thinks, but they are going to go against the very things they campaigned for.

The White House has been arguing that we must raise taxes so that we can keep on spending. The liberal left's Keynesian philosophy is fundamentally at odds with America’s job creators, therefore our economy will continue to suffer under the Democrat's insane agenda which is based on lies and failed economic theories.

The President himself has made clear that raising taxes must be a part of the debt limit deal he will sign, or else, no cigar.

Problem is, his agenda is based on flawed ideas. The liberals believe that wealth is finite, hence the reason they say things like "rich on the backs of the poor." These people actually believe that if a person gains wealth, someone at the bottom becomes poorer. Besides, as far as they are concerned, all money belongs to the government, which means, based on Obama's latest tirades, the Democrats effectively believe that any income you have which you don’t “need” belongs to the government.

It turns out that the professional politician that was educated at Harvard is the economic illiterate.

The thing is, huge profit and success in a free market capitalist system is the best thing for economies. And taxing the rich is the worst thing for economies. The rich do not put the excess of their money in some hidden account or giant vault. They invest it.

A high-tax policy, like the one that is so important to the President, creates uncertainty, and as we have been seeing, the corporations, and the rich, hold back on investment when tax rates are high.

But the President's destructive policies come with an added bonus for the liberal Democrats, for the process of forcing destruction upon America includes his take-no-prisoners demagoguery campaign, designed to attack anyone and anything he sees as the opposition. His criticisms of "tax loopholes" (which are simply tax breaks when Democrats use the same "legal" tax advantages) regarding corporate jets and oil and gas companies are incredible. His calls for millionaires and billionaires to “pay a little bit more” are anything but subtle, and idiotic, and is based on the belief that the wealthy will simply say, "Oh, yeah, sure, lay it on me."

The lies behind the threats are even worse. The threat that if we fail to raise our debt limit is a bluff beyond bluffs, and is designed to frighten the opposition into compliance.

The response by America's job creators is to hold back, because the Democrat agenda is a threat to their businesses. America’s growing debt and deficit and the emergence of Obamacare are creating uncertainty, and a rise in taxes will cause businesses to cut back operations, or move operations overseas.

Boehner, and the rest of the GOP, seems to understand this (I hope). They are standing firm (for now).

If they don't, the Tea Party rebellion would be devastating to the Republican Party.

When it comes to what works, the proof is in the pudding. Leftist policies are leading to the collapse of European nations, and the States with the highest taxes generally are suffering, while the States with the lowest taxes tend to be among the most prosperous.
