The Liberal Budget Debate Lie

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Every threat coming out of the Democrat Party over these budget negotiations are lies. The "our full faith and credit is at risk" argument is a lie. The leftist argument that if the debt ceiling is not raised we will default on our bills is a lie. We will not default on our bills unless Obama makes us default by deciding not to pay those bills. There is enough revenue to service the debt. Our full faith in credit is in danger if we keep borrowing, keep spending, and keep acting in an irresponsible manner.

Imagine if you decided that you could save your financial situation at home if you just borrowed more money, got more credit cards and maxed them out, and then argued that if you didn't get a higher limit on your credit cards (of which you were buying TVs, going out to eat every night, and buying numerous trinkets you enjoy but did not need) you wouldn't be able to pay your mortgage - well, the argument is idiotic. By not raising the limit on your cards it would force you to stop buying all of the crap you had been borrowing for on your cards.

Not raising the debt limit would force the government to cut spending somewhere because the affordability would be gone - but the debt would still be paid. Nobody in their right mind prioritizes crazy spending above the bills. The debt bills would get paid, the entitlement checks would still go out, and there would be no need for anyone to sacrifice except for the statists in government who want to keep overspending your hard earned tax dollars.

Then there are those idiot Democrat voters, like Neurotic Tom, who believe this B.S. because they can't think for themselves. They just repeat in lockstep the tripe fed to them by the leftist politicians who are trying to save their position of power, as well as mindlessly believing the lies of the dishonest media. Please, liberal voters, pull your heads out and think for yourselves, for once. It is not rocket science. If you spend more than you take in eventually it will all implode. And spending does not enable "demand" to rise. What good is demand if there is no supply?

The problem is not the debt ceiling, or revenue. The problem is all of the irresponsible borrowing and spending. I don't care who you are, if you spend more than you have coming in, eventually the pot will boil over. We need to cut spending now, and if we don't, something worse than a mere default will occur.

Obama has sent our deficit into a massive tizzy, and now the democrats want to spend more - while saying out of the other side of their mouths that they want to act fiscally responsible. The democrats are the problem, and those manipulators are lying to save their ability to continue spending. Then, when we call them on their lies, they insult us, or try to silence us by launching campaigns of ridicule. The liberal democrats are destroying the economy, and then they are lying about it, and are issuing threats so that they may continue to destroy the economy with their massive spending - and threat of raising taxes.

It must stop now. No compromise. A compromise will destroy this nation - and the McConnell deal teeters on that kind of dangerous compromise.

And of course Obama and the democrats want to raise taxes. That is what liberal progressive socialist pieces of crap do - they raise taxes. And they are pushing this even though Obama campaigned on the opposite (what? He lied? What a surprise!)

The truth doesn't matter to these people. The only thing they understand is playing games to get the power they want. They will say anything to you, even when they know that you know they are lying, and then they will ridicule you for challenging their lies.

They sound like a bunch of Chicken Littles, except they know damn well the sky isn't falling if the debt ceiling isn't raised.
