Suspicious Packages at Scott Air Force Base

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Scott Air Force Base, located in St. Clair County, Illinois, may be the target of a terrorist attack. A suspicious package has allegedly caused three employees at the U.S. Post Office on the base to suffer from respiratory distress and a rash. The investigation is focusing on a group of packages in a bin in the mail room.

There were earlier reports of an odor like sulphur.

Evacuation of the post office, and about a half-dozen surrounding buildings, commenced, and the area was cordoned off.

There is some speculation that the incident may be linked to the upcoming 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The FBI has been included in the investigation.
