Catholic University Too Catholic for Muslims

Note: After this article was posted the following letter came to me from Catholic University. . .

Dear Mr. Gibbs,

I read your blog today at http://politicalpistachio.blogspot.com/2011/11/catholic-university-too-catholic-for.html that mentions “A Muslim student group has accused Catholic University of America of violating their human rights by not allowing them to form a Muslim student group and by not providing them rooms without Christian symbols for their daily prayers.”

I wanted to be sure you saw the notice below from Catholic University’s president about allegations that Muslim students at the University have complained of experiencing “illegal discrimination” at the hands of the University. The facts are otherwise. Our Muslim students have not lodged a single protest against Catholic University and are being unfairly blamed. This controversy has been manufactured by an outsider. For a factual account of what has happened, we are reprinting a statement issued Oct. 28 by University President John Garvey below. You may also find the following of interest:

We would appreciate it if you would update your story to include the correct information or if you would run a new story reflecting this.

Sincerely,

Victor Nakas
Associate Vice President for Public Affairs

A complaint has been filed with the Office of Human Rights. A Muslim student group has accused Catholic University of America of violating their human rights by not allowing them to form a Muslim student group and by not providing them rooms without Christian symbols for their daily prayers.

Wow, Christian symbols in the rooms of a Catholic University? Who'd have thought such a thing was possible?!

Could you imagine (hypothetically, of course, because this would never be possible in the world of Islam) if Christians attended a Muslim University and complained about all of the Islamic symbolism? "Hey, get rid of the Muhammad references, or we're going to complain that you are violating our human rights!"

As if. . .

The Christians would never have been accepted at the college, and would have been in life-and-death danger for daring to complain. Riots would erupt in Muslim nations in response of those mouthy Christians daring to say anything against Islam. That is how Islam would respond if the shoe was on the other foot.

As for those Muslims at Catholic University. . . if you don't like the Christian symbolism, go to school somewhere else. If you find it inappropriate to perform your prayers surrounded by symbols of Catholicism, either don't pray, pray somewhere else, or find somewhere else to go to school.

Christians in a Muslim university would be considered insensitive racists.

Muslims in a Catholic university are somehow considered victims.

The complaint delivered to the Office of Human Rights was sixty pages long. The investigation could take six months.

Are you kidding me? Who needs a damn investigation? It is a Catholic university. Therefore, going in, it should be pretty obvious that there will be Christian symbolism on campus.

It is not illegal for a university to refuse to provide rooms devoid of religious icons. And the Muslims would not do the same for Christians if the tables were turned.

So why, then, did they even file this?

Remember, Muslims believe they are superior. You must conform to their ways, but they don't have to conform to yours. You are but an infidel that is lucky they haven't slit your throat.

If we don't quit bending over backwards for these barbarians, we will lose America to their demands. I don't care if they have to pray five times a day. If they don't like the surroundings, they can do it somewhere else.

Besides, despite what the followers think, Islam is not a religion. Islam is a political ideology that masks itself as a religion. They believe they are superior to you, and that the U.S. Constitution should be replaced by Shariah law. That is unacceptable.

In the end, however, it will be no surprise that not only will the liberal left rally around these poor Muslim victims, but the adherents to Muhammadism will win this ridiculous case.

Try demanding a room to pray a Christian prayer in a room devoid of Islamic symbols at a Muslim facility. See what happens.

Catholic University is a Catholic institution. Live with it.
