Garrett Uekman: Arkansas Razorbacks tight end dead

By Douglas V. Gibbs

After Saturday's amazing day of college football was over, the Arkansas Razorbacks found themselves in the hunt for the National Title. A win against LSU on Friday will undoubtedly place the Hogs into the BCS Championship Game. As a Razorbacks fan, I am jazzed about that.

The news that emerged shortly after the celebration, however, turned the excitement of Saturday into tears of pain.

Tight end Garrett Uekman was found dead in his dorm room Sunday morning of unknown causes. The 19-year-old redshirt freshman from Little Rock, had seen the field in nine of the Razorbacks' first eleven games this season. His final game was played in his hometown of Little Rock, from which the team had returned to Fayetteville a few hours before his death.

After being informed of the news, Uekman's teammates were embracing outside the football complex.

My condolences to the family, friends, and teammates.
