Paterno Fired

By Douglas V. Gibbs

On Tuesday, in my post titled "Sex Scandal At Penn State Puts Joe Paterno Career At Risk," I stated that if Paterno did allow Sandusky to continue his perverted sexual crimes as suggested, his resignation may very well come soon. It turns out that Penn State made the first move, and fired Paterno to be done with it.

As much as I respect Joe Paterno, if he did know about Sandusky's perverted acts, and did not follow up with appropriate actions, it makes Paterno just as guilty, and the firing was appropriate. Legal actions should follow. We'll see.

Due process will hopefully uncover the truth. I will make no judgments until the evidence is available, but it looks like this is worse than originally believed.

The damage caused by Sandusky's sexual perversion may never be fully understood. The coach's sick desire for boys is yet another example of the sickness of our society, in this case being a combination of homosexuality and pedophilia.

Without revival, it will only get worse.
