As Greece Teeters, the Free Loaders Strike and Protest

By Douglas V. Gibbs

European stocks have been plunging, and Greece is on the verge of default. So, in this crisis, what do the citizens do about it? They begin crying about the cutbacks and deregulation that Greece is forced to initiate.

This is what happens when you train a society to be dependent upon the government. Even in the face of complete collapse, they will cry that they aren't getting their government freebies.

Greece is doing what it can to avoid complete collapse, and they are trying to save themselves as the European economic crisis worsens, and Obama continues to try to send the United States in the exact same damaging direction.

Socialism, liberalism, whatever you want to call it, has caused this. Now, after all of the damage, they are trying to save themselves with austerity measures that, though painful, must be used - despite the temper tantrum of the free loaders in that society. . . that have been taught to be free loaders by the socialist government system of entitlements.

The cuts the protesters are railing against are cuts to pensions above 1,200 euros ($1,650) per month, a temporary layoff for 30,000 state employees and a drastic reduction of revenue exemption on annual taxes to 5,000 euros, from 12,000 euros currently.

Collapse is inevitable, though, because with the cuts have been increases in taxes, which kills the ability for growth. Greece has a new controversial property tax which could be extended to 2014, and that tax alone has raised dissent in the governing party with backbenchers and former ministers doubting their effectiveness after two years of recession. That is because with tax increases comes a retardation of growth. To pull themselves out of this they have to also cut taxes. The austerity measures will never work as long as tax cuts are not initiated as well.

"Not even Greece's German and Turkish conquerors imposed such taxes," said one official.

The main private sector union GSEE and the Adedy syndicate representing civil servants have called for strikes next month against the austerity measures.

The public sector will shut down on October 5 and a general strike will be held on October 19.

And this is only the beginning of the madness.

Liberalism fails wherever it is tried.

Obama Jobs Bill Can't Get By Democrats in U.S. Senate

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said, at the moment, Democrats in Congress don’t have the votes to pass President Obama’s jobs bill. . .

The Hill

If getting democrats of the Senate on board for this turkey of a bill (which is actually a spending bill, not a jobs bill) is not happening, then how do they expect the bill to pass a GOP dominated House of Representatives?

That's because Obama never intended for this bill to pass. He proposed it to make it look like he's trying to do something, and so that later he, and the democrats, can accuse the republicans of trying to stand in the way of job creation. . . even though government does not create jobs - that is a function of the private sector.

Debit Card Fees On The Rise, Thanks To Liberal Democrats

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Bank of America plans to begin charging debit-card users $5 a month to pay for purchases. The move is not a surprise because in an attempt to "protect the consumer" the federal government has produced a new rule that will limit how much they can collect from merchants.

That is what business does. If the government is going to force them to lose money somewhere, they will make it up somewhere else, and that somewhere else always turns out to be the consumer.

Bank of America's announcement is one of many on the horizon by banks.

Customers will only be charged the fee if they use their debit cards for purchases in any given month. Those who only use their cards at ATMs won't have to pay.

As banks are doing away with free checking accounts, watch for the membership of credit unions to start rising drastically.

It amazes me how when the banks increase ATM fees, how everyone gets angry at the banks, and they don't put two and two together to realize that the reason for the fee hikes is because of the federal government hammering the banks. What were the banks supposed to do? Lose the money, which could very well result in layoffs? Then the people would be angry at the banks over the layoffs. Oh, that's right, the liberal attitude is that sticking it to those big bad corporations is the goal, here. They are supposed to just take the hit, and lose business, and lose funds. And who would get hurt then? The big executives? I don't think so. Eventually, it would trickle down to you and I. Eventually, retirement funds, or stocks, or percentage rates would take the hit. That is how business works.

So the right answer?

The federal government needs to back off, before they destroy yet another segment of the private sector.

The fault lies with Dodd-Frank, the Financial Regulatory Reform Act. This is the modus operandi of the democrat party. This is what they do. Attack a part of the private sector in the name of "consumer protection," but screwing the consumers worse in the long run.

Dodd-Frank dictated that the fee banks charge institutions for using their credit cards be cut in half. So the banks decided to obey the law, and then get that money somewhere else.

The liberal democrats never consider anything beyond their little plans. On paper they think that everything is static. They decided they were going to punish the banks, and never took into consideration the reality of the world. They failed to calculate this because these people don't understand the free market, and they don't understand how business works. All they understand is that they hate capitalism, so they want to punish the institutions, and in their attempt to punish the institutions, they punished the people instead.

The good intentions of the democrats screw the little guy every time. That is what government involvement does, that is what communist style government dictates against a capitalist system does. The only way they could get their soviet-style governmental dictates to work would be by taking the plunge, and nationalize the banks like they are trying to nationalize everything else. They don't get it. You can't be "kinda" socialist. They are on the path of full fledged communism, whether they think so, or not. The liberal left thinks it can grow government, and grow government, but that somehow it is not similar to Marxism because they say it isn't. Either, they are going to have to back off, and trust the American system, or they are going to finish their progression towards complete tyranny.

The only way to stop this kind of Marxist activity is to vote them out in 2012, but the democrats know this, and that is why some are even suggesting that we dial back the democratic process.

And, of course the people aren't stupid, either. They will start writing more checks rather than use their ATM card, or abandon banks and run to credit unions. That is how you destroy an industry. . . with ridiculous government regulations.

The problem here is not the banks, it is Frank and Dodd and Obama and their feeble attempt at consumer protections. Your debit card fees are going up, and ultimately it is because of big government sticking its nose into a private industry.

al-Qaida-linked cleric al-Awlaki Dead?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Did somebody follow Obama's call for a hit on an American citizen, and take out al-Awlaki?

Yemen is claiming that the U.S.-born al-Qaida cleric Anwar al-Awlaki has been killed.

I am not sure if I trust Yemen, under normal circumstances, but why would they lie about this?

According to Yemeni security and tribal officials, an airstrike believed to be by U.S. aircraft targeted a convoy of cars and it was believed al-Awlaki may have been in the convoy.

al-Awlaki is thought to have been behind a number of recent attacks on the U.S., and even had email exchanges with such people as the U.S. Army major accused of a murderous shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas.

My distrust of Yemen's information on this is born from past reports of the deaths of al-Qaida leaders who were later found to be alive. Al-Awlaki was last reported to have been killed in December 2009.

But, then again, perhaps this time it is true.

UPDATE: Obama seems awful proud of the fact that the U.S. carried out a kill order by him against an American citizen. If the CIA is responsible, is that not a dangerous proposition when you see American agencies going out and killing Americans? Talk about hypocrisy. These people complained about Water Boarding, but the laws of the United States seem to mean nothing to them when it comes to targeting, and killing, Americans. Constitutionally, wasn't al-Awlaki supposed to be given due process? Or, regardless of who he was, should we rejoice that yet another dangerous terrorist has been stopped for good? Hard to rejoice when the president's actions were contrary to the U.S. Constitution. Opens up a dangerous precedent.

Obama: America Has Gotten A Little Soft. . . You Think?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

For once in his life, Obama is right on something. Even a broken clock is right two times a day. Barry is right, but for the wrong reasons.

"I mean, there are a lot of things we can do," Obama said. "The way I think about it is, you know, this is a great, great country that had gotten a little soft and, you know, we didn't have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades. We need to get back on track."

Soft to Obama means that we are unwilling to move towards a hardline leftist direction of becoming the next soviet style Marxist nation.

Obama hates this nation as it was founded. He hates its history and its values. As a liberal statist he looks upon our system with contempt because he believes America became great on the backs of the poor less fortunate nations of the world. His refusal to place his hand on his heart at a function when the National Anthem was being played, or to wear a flag lapel pin during his presidential campaign, summed up exactly who he is. He skipped the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day two years in a row. Obama ordered the U.S. military compounds in Haiti involved in humanitarian relief work to not fly the American flag. “We are not an occupation force, but an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery.”

Obama sees America as founded as an occupier. Did he really think that the Haitians could conceivably equate the Stars and Strips flying over an aid distribution center with neo-colonialism?

When speaking at a West Point graduation, Obama explained his vision of a "new international order," which includes taking American sovereignty and subordinating it to the international institutions that wish to dismantle our nation's greatness. This kind of idiocy will inevitably lead to us needing a U.N. resolution to defend our national security, and where our decisions on our fiscal policy would be made in Brussels by people that hate our system of limited government and liberty.

The grand design is to hate America, so Obama hates America. He was raised with this poison, taught to believe it by his anti-colonialist male figures, and his communist mother.

He is in lock-step with the goose-stepping United Nations and European Union. They all hate the non-socialist system in America, so he hates it too. And they are anti-Israel, so under the Obama dictate, America must be too.

Obama believes that America has sinned, so we must atone for those sins.

It is amazing how Europe was saved by us from fascism in World War II, and saved by us from communism in the Cold War, yet now wish to become the enemy that was defeated, and has made their enemy the very nation that saved them from destruction before.

Energy sources, like oil and coal, that built this country is something that must be eliminated, the Leftists will tell you. You know. To save the planet. They have gone so far as to work towards banning asthma inhalers to save the planet, because their devotion to an environmental cause that has nothing to do with the environment, and everything to do with totalitarian control over your usage of energy, is more important than children being able to breath.

Obama thinks we torture those poor, innocent, Islamists when they are captured by our forces after these Muslim pieces of crap spend their lives killing innocent victims. And he thinks the world hates us because of us defending nations against the Muslim disease that is spreading across this nation, or because we haven't stopped using oil which is (in their opinion) destroying the planet. Obama, and the hard left communist Democrat Party has now become a full-fledged member of the insane. . . who believes America is guilty. We are guilty because we have dared to be a growing, prosperous, nation.

These leftists are working on creating an authoritarian regime where you can't use the American System for greatness anymore. They won't rest until we are cut down to size and pay the price for our sins. Right now the liberals in charge are a bunch of leftist, Marxist collectivists that think their own country sucks, and it is up to them to save us from ourselves.

In the end, the democrats have a blood thirst for power, and they are willing to strip away all of your freedoms through draconian regulations, and any other kind of big government they can muster, to achieve total power over you. They will do anything, including deceptively violate the Constitution, the laws on the books (such as in their lawsuits against States for wanting to enforce immigration laws. . . that are on the books), and deceive you through the media and the education system in order to get it. They work to destroy faith in God, as the Soviets did, through constant ridicule against Christianity, while propping up Islam with appeasement and concessions - and blaming America for the very presence of terrorism.

Yes, we have gotten a little soft, because as voters we voted into power this sick ideology. Liberalism fails wherever it is tried, and just the last few years proves how dangerous this line of thinking truly is. We have grown soft because we elected into power people who want to destroy this country as we know it, and we are letting them do it.

We have gotten a little soft because the voters believed the lies of the democrats during the campaign. History doesn't change. The liberal left democrats always pretend the have moved to the center to get elected. They know that they cannot be who they are and win elections. But once they think they've got a handle on power, they reveal who they are - and that is what we are seeing.

To win in 2008 the liberal left demonized George W. Bush, called him a terrorist and called for war crime trials against him and his administration. They opposed Bush's faith-based initiatives. They accused Bush of destroying the economy while the unemployment rate was still under 5%, and when the crash was not only caused by their "everyone must be able to own a home" mentality, but when the republicans warned of the coming crash and it was the democrats who refused to accept that possibility accusing the Right of "fear-mongering."

"Fannie and Freddie will never be in trouble," claimed Barney Frank.

We have gotten a little soft because we said nothing. We did not call the liberal left on their bull crap. We sat idly by as they took power on lies and deception, and we have allowed them to do everything they can to expand the government.

Yes, Mr. Obama, we have grown soft. But in 2010 we spoke up enough to win back the House of Representatives. 2012 is shaping up to be another blow to the soviet-style leftism of the democrats. We have been soft, but some of us have shaken off that mistake and are moving forward to defend this nation's heritage against the liberal left progressive bastards that are dead set in destroying our American System of limited government.

Liberals lie. The liberal left is all about power, and they are willing to say whatever they must or do whatever they must to gain it. None of what Obama, and the progressive democrats say, is legitimate, genuine, or sincere. They are deceptive. They are calculated. . . diabolical. They do what they can to win, and then destroy. That is what liberalism does. They will never claim America to be exceptional in the way that it truly is, because they are not about "country." Liberals are all about ideology, even if it means destroying the country in the process.

The liberals of the Democrat Party believe that this country is deeply flawed because of the very structure that made it great. They believe this is an unjust and immoral country because they haven't been able to put their ruling class socialism into place, yet.

The liberals are working to punish this country for daring to be, in their opinion, socially unjust. They work to redistribute the wealth, punish the achievers, and place themselves up at the top as the ruling elite. If anybody fights them, they threaten to end elections, so that they can force their agenda upon you. You are stupid, to them. Your Tea Party candidates are amateurs and obstructionists, as far as they are concerned. They just can't have that. Their agenda must be put into place, even if it must be done forcefully - and only the "professional politicians" can be trusted to make that happen.

They will try to convince you of what a rotten place we are, about what a rotten country we are. It must be "changed," they will tell you. Our only "hope" is to "change" America from the system it was founded upon to something like the failing societies of Europe. They will tell you that 9/11, and even the USS Cole, was because we are an arrogant nation that dares to be exceptional.

The liberal left democrats are more likely than not to agree with our enemies, that we're destroying the planet with global warming, destroying the planet with our success as a society, and that we deserved to be attacked by the dark ages mentality of Islam.

At this point, Obama is pleased with what he has done, but he wants to destroy this nation even more. He still thinks people look at him as the messiah, and his frustration is that there are a few out there that don't. He sees the Tea Party as an obstacle, and it is them he is addressing when he calls America "soft." Obama believes that this nation is a center-left nation, so most of the people out there hates America as much he does. A narcissist like Obama is bound to have that line of thinking. Obama has constructed his own reality of imaginary power, and now he is upset that there are actually those out there that don't like his socialist agenda. A Marxist Revolution is hard work, and those that dare oppose it, in his opinion, are weak and soft. Obama acts like he thinks that everybody feels the same way as he does about things, except for those pesky rightwingers, so he must put them in their place. Point out that they are soft for not being down for the struggle. After all, reasons Obama and the democrats, this country is guilty. Those Tea Party people, as far as they are concerned, are the last relic of America's imperial past where the United States has been racist, sexist, bigoted and homophobic. They are reminders, he thinks, of America's past as being colonial, imperialistic, and immoral and unjust to those poor people that Obama believes needs to be continued to be paid to stay poor through entitlements.

Yes, we have grown soft because we have let the enemies of America to successfully infiltrate many of our institutions. American liberty does not breed communists and Marxists. They are either imported, or educated to be that way by the liberal institutions and hard left media.

We are soft because we let it happen.

I remember when the crap the progressive leftist liberals push was considered the enemy. We used to be angry when we heard the Soviet Union call us capitalist pigs. Now, there are people who rejoice when they hear the liberal left say the exact same thing. We now say nothing as the liberal left teaches communism, and tries to convert people to it. Liberalism has embraced what we used to think was a rotten thing. Communism was horrible. It used to be if you were a communist, you had to live in the shadows. Now, they are out in the open, calling themselves the ruling elite, and going by the label of liberal democrat.

Alas, Obama is right that America has gone soft, but in ways he would never understand.

We have gone soft because we have allowed tyranny to creep across the nation, and we have done little to stop it.

We have gone soft because we have allowed our values to deteriorate under the onslaught of secular madness presented by the Left.

Turning it around is not easy. But the founders gave us an instruction booklet on how to turn this nation back around. The Founding Fathers gave us instructions on how to return this nation back away from the brink of tyranny. It can be read in less than thirty minutes, but it took them four months to write it. Our chance to move away from being soft, the path to taking back this nation, can be found on the pages of the U.S. Constitution.

NHL: No More Fighting?

NHL to review if fighting should remain part of game: CBC Brendan Shanahan says league worried about head injuries.

Personally, I enjoy hockey, but I am not a die-hard fan. The fighting on the ice has been a part of the game, and to eliminate the fighting aspect would be to neutralize the enforcers, and eliminate an integral part of the game.

No fighting would mean less viewers, and less butts in the seats.

Europe Slams Obama for His Stupidity

Obama wants to turn America into Europe. . . or something worse.

Europe is realizing that all of that spending, all of those entitlements, and all of the socialist utopia policies have brought them to the brink of collapse.

So what does Obama do?

Obama decided to give the Europeans a harsh lecture on what they should do - in other words more of the same failed policies, and the Europeans responded calling Obama "arrogant" and "absurd". He's telling Europe to do what he's been doing, but Obama's policies are now bringing the U.S. to the brink.

It is like some insane game.

And while he was at it, Obama did what he does best, and began passing some blame around. . . blaming Europe for the economic crisis.

It seems the international man is more like the laughing-stock man.

Obama, lecturing the Europeans, like he lectured Congress, shows once again that he is a narcissist that thinks he is the brightest bulb in the room.

Being an idiot is one thing. But being an idiot that thinks he's brilliant is a dangerous proposition indeed.

Liberals: "Too Much Democracy"

By Douglas V. Gibbs

All tyrannies have one thing in common: Big Government. In oppressive systems, the government is centralized, and wields growing control over the people through various regulations, laws, and dictates. In such a system the political elite come to the decision that individuals are dangerous to the greater good, and they must convince the public to trust the centralized government power, or else devastation could wreak havoc upon the country. The statists rely on rhetorical gimmicks, endlessly repeating that consolidating political power into the hands of the government will serve to save the system, and be beneficial to the public good. Giving into one's own self-interests, the tyrants spew, is a bad thing for the whole, or the collective.

The public good, or "general will," is not necessarily recognized by the people, according to these statists. The general will is presumed to be only known by the ruling elite. But when the people refuse to follow the general will, the statists must abandon getting the public to voluntarily dissolve into a homogeneous mass. At that point, when everything begins to unravel, the totalitarian instinct of liberals reveals itself, and they begin to work to further centralize the government by removing representative institutions, and subjecting the people to regulation and control, in the name of the good of the people, or the general will - as interpreted by the ruling elite.

It is then that individual liberty begins to die.

Sometimes, enough of the citizenry have been so indoctrinated with the deception and lies that they actually applaud the death of freedom.

"So this is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause," Queen Amidala, Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith

Despotism is the inevitable consequence of consolidated governmental power.

When I refer to liberals, or statists, understand that the reference is not always only to democrats. Liberal socialists, though more concentrated in the democrat party, reside throughout the system. The GOP establishment is full of them, as is many of the members of the precious corps of independents. Some will come straight out and tell you that they are socialist Marxists. Others, like the democrats, will try to hide their intentions, careful not to expose too much or else the people might notice.

As the Obama administration is unraveling, the progressives are exposing who they really are. I've heard the rhetoric of the liberals before. . . behind the walls of the Iron Curtain. The Soviets and the liberals of this nation have a lot in common.

It all begins under the guise of good intentions. They tell you that spanking can no longer be allowed, or that children may only be allowed to eat french fries under supervision. It's all for a good reason, the statists will tell you. Childhood obesity and abuse is out of control. The government must make it all stop with regulations.

In America the statists are working to control energy through bogus environmental claims, control your health by destroying the private health care industry and forcing everyone into a government controlled system, control wealth by taking it away from the achievers through progressive tax rates while outlawing the exchange of items of real value like gold bullion. Besides, they will tell the successful members of society, " There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own. Nobody! You built a factory out there? Good for you! But I want to be clear: You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You, uh, were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn't have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory and hire someone to protect against this because of the work the rest of us did." (Elizabeth Warren, Harvard Law Professor, Massachusetts Democrat running for Senate, and a former TARP chair)

Apparently, according to Warren, the rich and their employees don't pay taxes for all of those things, only her and "the rest of us" do.

That is classic Marxist thinking. Collectivism. One for all and all for one, otherwise you are a greedy individual who only cares about your self interests. Never mind that your individual success produced jobs, brought products to market, and grew the economy. . . as far as Elizabeth Warren is concerned, you are a pariah on the socialist system she thinks we ought to be governed under.

And now that the Left is destroying the American System, it isn't happening fast enough or thoroughly enough for those Marxist liberals. How dare the Republicans stand in the way of Obama's jobs bill (which isn't a jobs bill, it is a spending bill with more of the same failed crap he's been pedaling since he took office). The democrats say that the Tea Party is standing in the way, and nothing is getting done. Those Tea Party folks, according to the liberals, are obstructionists, and allowing the people to vote these amateurs into office is screwing everything up. . . so, the liberals have decided, let's do away with democracy for a while. Quit letting the people vote. Suspend the elections. Obama already told us that the people don't understand, so it all needs to be left up to the "professional politicians."

They think that only they can understand what is going on, so the people need to be cut out of the equation. Democracy is dangerous, after all, they are screaming, so let's become something else!

How long before they outlaw all opposition parties?

In fact, in an article called "Too Much of a Good Thing" by Peter Orszag of the New Republic, he says we need less democracy. Then, Mr. Orszag butchers a quote by John Adams, completely wrong on the premise, and by doing so literally rewriting history.

Revisionist history seems to be the expertise of the liberals.

Orszag wrote: "In an 1814 letter to John Taylor, John Adams wrote that “there never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” That may read today like an overstatement, but it is certainly true that our democracy finds itself facing a deep challenge: During my recent stint in the Obama administration as director of the Office of Management and Budget, it was clear to me that the country’s political polarization was growing worse—harming Washington’s ability to do the basic, necessary work of governing. If you need confirmation of this, look no further than the recent debt-limit debacle, which clearly showed that we are becoming two nations governed by a single Congress—and that paralyzing gridlock is the result.

"So what to do? To solve the serious problems facing our country, we need to minimize the harm from legislative inertia by relying more on automatic policies and depoliticized commissions for certain policy decisions. In other words, radical as it sounds, we need to counter the gridlock of our political institutions by making them a bit less democratic."

In other words, since the people disagree with what the liberals are trying to do, cut the people out of the equation.

The thing is, he has taken Adams' quote completely out of context. The quote was an argument in support of "republics" over "democracies." Democracies become mob rule. Once the people realize they can vote themselves entitlements, and once the politicians realize they can use promises for more entitlements to get votes, the people wind up voting in tyranny. To guard against such madness, the elections and representation in the United States were set up very differently. Interestingly enough, it was the liberal democrats that changed the system into a more democratic system with the 17th Amendment, and their work to undermine the Electoral College. They love democracy as long as the people vote them in. Now, with the landslide Tea Party win of 2010 looking to be only a pre-shock of what is coming in 2012, suddenly the liberals think democracy is bad.

We are a republic that uses democratic processes. The liberals want it to be pure democracy when it suits them, and a dictatorship with them in charge, otherwise.

They aren't getting enough liberalism passed, reasons Orszag, so the obstacle must be eliminated - and in this case, it is the voice of the people they wish to remove.

But Orszag isn't the only liberal calling for an end to the people's involvement in government. North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, a raging liberal democrat, suggested that maybe Americans should call off a round or two of elections and let politicians focus on government instead of getting elected. We can't be having all of this partisan gridlock. The Republicans are supposed to just shut up and vote with the democrats - like it or not!

Agree with the democrats, or elections will cease. Don't dare speak out against the democrats, or you will be ridiculed into silence. Eat healthy, or the government will come after you. Ban gasoline engines and asthma inhalers to help the government's environmental agenda, or be attacked for daring to deny the environmental doom the liberals have conjured up. Government health care is coming, and if you don't like it, they will mandate you to participate. Make risky investments and the government will come after you and regulate you. Spank your child, and the government will take your children away without due process - it doesn't matter what your opinion is about spanking. . . if the government says its bad, you better cease and desist. Say anything against the government and you will be called "anti-government." How long before a new Sedition Act is rolled out? How long before dissent becomes criminal? How long before the Tea Party is outlawed?

Obamacare will add 200,000 pages to the Code of Federal Regulations.

As of 1998, there were 134,723 pages of Federal Rules and Regulations. Since Obama took office, the budget for federal regulatory agencies has grown by 16% and employment in regulatory agencies has grown by 13%. Meanwhile, in the private sector, employment has shrunk by 5.6%. The Obama administration has imposed more than 75 major rules during the first couple years of being in office, at a cost via tax dollars of more than $40 billion dollars to the corporations and individuals who have to comply with them.

The democrats have been using the federal agencies to bypass Congress and regulate at will. Recently, the Education Secretary announced he would use regulations to effective end the No Child Left Behind Act. No Child Left Behind was, at best, a horrible law. However, it was passed by Congress and signed by the President. It is up to Congress to change the laws, not a regulatory agency.

According to Senator John Barrasso, another 379 Rules costing the private sector another $9.5 billion went into effect in July.

Regulations are freedom killers, and job busters - and the preferred tool of tyrants the world over.

The liberal left believes there is too much democracy when they are in control - but I guarantee after 2012, when the GOP gains the White House, the Senate, and deepens its control over the House, the democrats will be calling for recounts, and claim that the democratic vote of the people was somehow compromised. Then, they will do all they can to demonize those in office, just like they did to Bush, and Reagan, and every other conservative they can sink their fangs into.

Two More Solar Loans, Despite Solyndra

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Apparently, the Solyndra scandal was not enough to deter the Obama administration from laundering more money through failed green technologies like solar companies.

Besides, where in the hell in the Constitution does it give the federal government the authority to do this kind of garbage?

If Green Technologies are the wave of the future, as Obama claims, then let the market decide. Government can't make a market take off. Only the free market can.

Despite all that, the Energy Department has approved two more loan guarantees worth more than $1 billion for solar energy projects in Nevada and Arizona, through a program heavily criticized by the GOP, and within two days before the expiration date of the program.

The liberals don't care about reality, the law, or the fact that their efforts have proven to be a failure again and again and again. Regardless of criticism from the public, the republicans, and the Solyndra debacle, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said the Energy Department has completed a $737 million loan guarantee to Tonopah Solar Energy for a 110 megawatt solar tower on federal land near Tonopah, Nevada, and a $337 million guarantee for Mesquite Solar 1 to develop a 150 megawatt solar plant near Phoenix, Arizona.

These loans were approved under the same program that paid for a $528 million loan to Solyndra.

I wonder how long before these new taxpayer money recipients go belly up too?

The liberals say they are worried about us getting in on the global clean energy race - a race that cannot be initiated by government, and one that so far has been a total bust.

Oil is the most efficient energy source we have, and I suggest we use it. Nuclear power works real well too.

As for the government handing out money to these corporations like candy to kids, must we remind everyone what happened at Solyndra?

Not only is the government backing failing ventures, which are based on the mythical assumption regarding the existence of man-made global warming, but also these businesses aren't exactly on the up and up.

All of that money that went into Solyndra went into a business that paid $6 for every $3 product they produced. Meanwhile, Solyndra's new factory was 300,000 square feet, the equivalent of five football fields. It had robots that whistled Disney tunes, spa-like showers with liquid-crystal displays of the water temperature, and glass-walled conference rooms.

“The new building is like the Taj Mahal,” John Pierce, 54, a San Jose resident who worked as a facilities manager at Solyndra, said in an interview.

When Solyndra went bankrupt, about 1,100 workers lost their jobs.

Aside from the money misspent, the government is pumping money into a green industry that is just not viable. There is no demand, and you can't create demand by just pumping money into the system. People have to want the product for there to be a demand.

Man Arrested for Plot to Blow Up Pentagon with Remote Control Planes

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The man was going to do it for the jihad. The plan was to attack the Pentagon with remote control planes packed with explosives. Fortunately, he was caught before the plot left the ground.

Rezwan Ferdaus was arrested in Framingham, Massachusetts. Ferdaus requested a number of items through who he thought was a trustworthy contact, but it turned out to be undercover federal agents. The items allegedly requested included grenades, six machine guns and 24 pounds of C-4 explosive.

The suspect claimed America was evil. He learned much of this from Muslim jihadi websites and videos. He began planning his Islamic jihad against the U.S. in early 2010.

His search for al-Qaeda led him to undercover federal agents posing as members of al-Qaeda.

As a good Muslim, Ferdaus wanted to deal a psychological blow to the "enemies of Allah" by hitting the Pentagon, which he called "head and heart of the snake." Asked at one point about possibly killing women and children, Ferdaus allegedly said all unbelievers of Islam were his enemies.

Keying in on the threat of homegrown terrorists, federal agencies have stopped a number of potential attacks against the U.S. since 9/11. al-Qaeda is attempting to radicalize individuals or small groups already in the country because of the significant advantages.

A Dog Named Muhammad

By Douglas V. Gibbs

During a city council discussion regarding the possibility of opening up a dog park, new San Juan Capistrano Councilman Derek Reeve expressed his excitement regarding a dog park for his dogs, America and Muhammad.

One of the audience members so happened to be a Muslim, and he was offended by the fact that Reeve named one of his dogs "Muhammad."

I've known people to do such things. A person I knew named his horse Jesus. An atheist I once knew named his dog "God" so that he could yell at God everyday.

I felt in both cases they were stupid, idiotic, and a whole other host of words. And I suppose I was slightly offended to a point. But that is as far as it went. God is greater than a couple of idiots that just don't want anything to do with Him.

Councilman Reeve, however, is not getting such a reasonable response. The Muslims are a little freakier about that kind of stuff. Hell, these people rioted over Dutch cartoons, for God's sake.

Not-So-Conservative commentator, Bill O'Reilly, even took a shot at the councilman on his pinheads and patriots segment.

Isn't this about free speech?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, with freedom comes responsibility. But are you kidding me? You can't name your dog the same name that is the most popular in Britain?

Oh, that's right, dogs are bad in the eyes of Muslims.

But, wait, the name is appropriate in my opinion, because aside from being a lowlife pedophile, barbarian, liar, murderer, psycho, and megalomaniac, Muhammad was also a dirty dog.

Councilman Reeve seems to be taking this quite well, taking O'Reilly's accusation that he is a pinhead with a dash of laughter.

The Council on Islamic Relations is not going to be forgiving, however. They want an apology, and they want it yesterday. They say Reeve of disrespected the Muslim prophet. So far Reeve has refused.

If I was Reeve, I would answer, with a particular finger held nice and high.

Yes, I don't like it when Christianity is disrespected, but what would it say about Christianity if we went around "forcing" people to treat the religion with whether-you-like-it-or-not respect? Yep, that's right, we'd be something like the fascist, totalitarian Islamists.

Resident Jurgen Schambach thinks there is a free speech discussion in all of this. He named his German Shepherd "Blitz."

"I don't name my dog Jesus because it's my own choice," says Schambach, "but if somebody would like to do that, why not? We should not go to war over that one."

By the way: If the liberal freaks or Muslim freaks shut my site down over this post, it would prove how idiotic hypocritical they are, and I'll be writing over at douglasvgibbs.com from there on out.

Terra Nova a Journey Into Liberal Propaganda

The future is dim thanks to humanity's destruction of the environment. So they send humans into the age of the dinosaurs to restart civilization. . . using a communist model governed by a military leadership.

Ahhh, utopia for the liberals!

My, my, my, how easily the Hollywood liberal whackos forget history.

Aside from the recent history of the failure of leftism, such as the collapse of the Soviet Union, there is also the history of America, in the colonies, where a communal society was tried. . . and it failed.

When the Pilgrims came to America, they did so for religious freedom. Back in England The King was not only the head of a strong, overpowering, centralized government, but had also set himself up as the head of the church. In doing so, he declared all religions other than his own, the Church of England, illegal. The Church of England was the National Religion.

The first footprint on Plymouth Rock signified a break from tyranny, but the colonists were not sure what kind of government they desired. Many forms of government were attempted throughout America's young history, and nearly all of them failed.

Over the course of the next hundred years, or so, among the forms of government attempted, one attempt was a socialist-style form of government, in which the neighborhood, or community, was much like a commune type setting. The members of the community provided for the entire community by adding what they produced into the public coffer. This style of government did not succeed, however, because they found that human nature caused some colonists to not pull their full weight. Starvation and death plagued the communal societies. The utopian dream was a dismal failure.

Eventually, the form of government that worked best was when the people were able to keep what they produced, taking care of their families first, and then taking to market the remainder so as to acquire other goods and services they may need for their family that they were unable to produce on their own. This was the beginning of the free market system that would eventually evolve into the Capitalism that would make this nation prosperous, and the greatest economic power in the world.

If Terra Nova on Fox TV is realistic, the experiment will fail unless they change it from a socialistic liberal communal society controlled by the military to a system where the people keep more of what they earn for themselves. . . then again, maybe that is where the writers are taking it. We'll see, but I won't hold my breath on that one.

Obama Directly To Blame for this Economic Blunder

(thanks Jim Stewart)

Ever since Obama came out and tried to compare the taxes that Warren Buffett pays to what his secretary pays he's tried to fool the public. The 15% that Buffett was taxed was on CAPITAL GAINS, not the federal tax that he ALSO pays (making Buffett's total tax liability closer to 50%).

So, with that in mind, the investors (fearing Obama was looking to raise the capital gains tax) are fleeing and taking their money with them.

MICHAEL MOORE HINTS AT POSSIBLE FUTURE VIOLENCE: THE RICH CAN ‘ONLY BUILD THE GATES SO HIGH’

On Keith Olbermann’s Current TV show Thursday night, Michael Moore delivered a possibly prophetic warning about what could happen if the “Days of Rage” protesters on Wall Street don’t see changes: there could be violence.

While discussing the protests, Moore called on people from all across the country to undertake demonstrations in their local areas, even encouraging “civil disobedience” if necessary. But that was just the beginning.

“The smart rich know they can only build the gate so high,” Moore said after referencing Michael Bloomberg’s allusion to riots and unrest last week. “And sooner or later history proves that people, when they’ve had enough, aren’t going to take it anymore. And much better to deal with it nonviolently now, through the political system, than what could possibly happen in the future, which nobody wants to see.”

Obama Lied About the Wealthy's Fair Share

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The Alternative Minimum Tax was part of the general Tax Reform Act of 1969. The goal of the policy was to force individuals with high incomes, who may be able to benefit from tax breaks in the tax code, to pay a minimum tax no matter what. The idea was to ensure that those who may use the code to pay no taxes, wind up paying taxes.

Today, there seems to be a small few large corporations who paid either no tax at all or taxes which represented very low effective rates.

Somehow, the alternative minimum tax didn't kick in, and the liberal democrats want to make sure those companies "pay their fair share."

Claiming that Warren Buffet paid less in taxes than his secretary, Obama is working to re-create the Alternative Minimum Tax all over again without getting rid of the original AMT. In other words, the democrats are doubling down.

This attempt to ensure tax is paid by the wealthy is called the Buffett Rule.

Obama plans to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire, and he is working to increase taxes above and beyond those.

In the long run, these taxes won't just be on the rich, but will reach down into the lower levels as well in the form of taxes and consumer cost increases imposed by the producers to offset the "tax the rich" attacks against them.

Now, Obama is talking about tax increases as a part of his jobs bill.

Have you ever come across a business owner that said, "Whew, here comes those tax increases, now I can start hiring."

Yes, I realize the government can't create jobs. Besides, Obama knows nothing about how to create jobs, anyway. I don't even think he's run a lemonade stand, much less learned anything about how the private sector works.

Barry seems to think that the way to create jobs is to raise $1.5 trillion in taxes, and to spend $445 billion more. But is that money getting distributed to those poor ol' poor people? Of course not. It's going to government. We are $16 trillion in debt, and nobody knows where it is being spent. Some of it is going to people who don't work, other globs of it will be redistributed to union people so that most of it can come back to the Democrat Party in a money laundering scheme. No jobs, just more spending, and tax increases.

Obama has already wasted a trillion dollars on the stimulus. Now he wants another trillion and a half to toss out the window. But none of it has anything to do with jobs.

Then he says that he wants to change it all because it is unfair when the rich pays 15% and Buffet's secretary is paying 39% in taxes.

Excuse me?

Even the Associated Press doesn't believe that load of crap.

The AP did a fact check on Obama's claims, and concluded "On average, the wealthiest people in America pay a lot more taxes than the middle class or the poor, according to private and government data. They pay at a higher rate, and as a group, they contribute a much larger share of the overall taxes collected by the federal government."

So how in the hell did Obama come to the conclusion that they aren't paying their fair share?

It's a liberal thing. Even in the face of facts, they believe their own bull crap.

In Obama's case, he's bought so much into his own B.S. that he even believes the messiah complex crap. He doesn't understand why everyone isn't making a big thing over him anymore. He is angry. He is lashing out. You can see it in his speeches as he accuses the Tea Party of interference, and the GOP of not cooperating. He's blaming everyone for his failures because he doesn't believe what is going on.

In the end, he's either a liar, a Marxist, or an idiot.

I tend to think he's all three.

Great Nations Overcome Men Like Obama

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The Pledge of Allegiance that we hold so dear to our hearts was originally written by a socialist. He wrote it with the intent of turning America into a nationalistic nation with a loyalty oath. Originally, the Pledge was given with a salute that was exactly like the Nazi salute.

The greatness of America overcame that attempt to change who we are. We took the socialist oath, changed the salute to a hand over our heart, added the words "Under God," and changed the nationalistic loyalty oath into a patriotic pledge to our country.

And that is one of many attempts to change America into something the Founding Fathers never intended it to be.

The thing is, Americans have tasted liberty. We know what freedom is in ways that the rest of the world doesn't.

Obama, many believe, is destroying the country. Some even say this destructiveness is on purpose. Others believe he is simply a product of his ideology, and doesn't realize that liberalism is such a failure.

Perhaps he is so inexperienced, he just doesn't realize what he is doing. Or maybe Obama is a puppet, just following the orders of some evil group of globalists.

Regardless, he is the product of liberalism. He grew up during a period of history when the American left was in its hey day. Post-60s liberalism taught him that exceptionalism is a bad thing, and that America is evil because of its indulgence in militarism, racism, sexism, corporate greed, and environmental disregard. America is great, he was taught, because America stole it.

Money, he believes, belongs to government. Therefore, the wealthy has taken it from its rightful owner, and it is up to government to get that money back and redistribute it in a socially just manner.

Never mind if all indications point at such policies being unsustainable.

The liberals, however, are upset with Obama, too, because once in office he made a few changes. On some things he backed off completely. In fact, some of these people even see him as being more like George Bush, than the guy that campaigned in 2008. He has a devotion to big government, but it is not radical enough for these people. The progressives in America truly want Obama to apply his presidential powers into growing government, embark in a greater program of the redistribution of wealth, and up the ante on his scolding of Congress, Wall Street, and the big corporations of the private sector.

The liberals preach tolerance, but are intolerant. They say they support the freedom of speech, but ridicule you if you dare disagree with them. They preach the joys of collectivism, while damning individual initiative as the engine of development within our society. They trust government bureaucrats over individual choice, and doing so the liberals are among the greatest enemies of individual freedom.

This kind of statism is nothing new. Alexander Hamilton preached similar philosophies. John Marshall used his position in the courts to subvert the Constitution at every opportunity. Woodrow Wilson shredded America's exceptionalism, inserting his progressive ideas at every opportunity. Franklin Delano Roosevelt instituted socialist program after socialist program with his New Deal. Yet, despite these attacks against American liberty, our great nation has overcome those attacks, and has continued to be a great nation despite the leftist onslaught of failed liberal policies.

Time has proven that Americans are exceptional. The entire world seems to be at odds with us, sometimes, yet America always rises to the challenge, and emerges with a continued greatness unrivaled by any nation in history.

This is how America became so prosperous. Americans failed to settle for second best. We fought for every inch, and then fought some more. Innovation is an American standard. Overcoming attacks against our system, and coming out stronger, is what we do.

Individual initiative and individual responsibility are the fuel for our engine of exceptionalism. Freedom is our drive. Liberty is the fruit of our labors.

No matter how the enemy works to take down America, we prevail. That is what Americans do. Obama, try as he might, cannot fundamentally change America forever. We have tasted liberty, and we will not stand for losing it.

Unconstitutional EPA Strong Arm of Liberal Agenda

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Mike Callicrate is a Kansas cattle feeder. At a recent R-CALF USA Convention held August 26-27 in Rapid City, S.D. he was asked by an attendee, "Has the Environmental Protection Agency declared hay a pollutant?"

Callicrate responded affirmatively and explained that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently initiated a formal enforcement action against his Kansas feedlot for, among other things, failure to store his hay in a pollution containment zone.

“Now that EPA has declared hay a pollutant, every farmer and rancher that stores hay, or that leaves a broken hay bale in the field is potentially violating EPA rules and subject to an EPA enforcement action,” Callicrate said. “How far are we going to let this agency go before we stand up and do something about it?”

On top of this being completely insane, and a thorn in the side of our farms that could drive up costs as a result, the EPA, however, has no constitutional authority to regulate regarding hay.

Middle East Peace Unattainable

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Peace is not possible in the Middle East because of Islam. Between the Muslim refusal to recognize Israel, to the bickering between the various Islamic States, to the insane laws and local decisions by Islamic leaders, the reality of it all is that Muhammadism has doomed the followers of Islam to a life of war and death.

Afghanistan and Pakistan

Along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan the rockets and heavy artillery are a way of life. Problem is, Pakistani ordinance is finding its way into Afghanistan, and Afghan defense officials have warned Pakistan on Sunday to stop firing rockets and heavy artillery into the northeast corner of Afghanistan, or a forceful military response may be necessary.

Pakistan denied responsibility.

The area in question is home to a number of insurgent groups fighting in both countries. The cross border fighting, and Afghanistan's sour reaction to it, reveals the less than cooperative attitudes the two countries have with each other.

Violence in Yemen

The United Nations Security Council has released a press statement on the situation in Yemen. The statement was issued by Nawaf Salam, Lebanon's ambassador to the UN and the current president of the Security Council.

In view of the heightened tensions and continuing violence in Yemen, the members of the Security Council urged all sides, in the period after President Saleh’s return to Yemen on 23 September 2011, to reject violence, including against peaceful and unarmed civilians, and show maximum restraint. They called on all parties to move forward urgently in an inclusive, orderly and Yemeni-led process of political transition, on the basis of the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative, that meets the needs and aspirations of the Yemeni people for change. They also called upon all the parties to respect their obligations under applicable international law.

Palestinian Bid For Statehood Meets With Challenges

Historically, Palestinian leaders have rejected statehood, because they are against a two-state solution. They are in favor of a one-state solution, meaning the annihilation of Israel, and then the take over of the Jewish lands by the Palestinians.

As the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas calls for a "Palestinian Spring," the very survival of the Palestinian Authority is at risk. Between the opposition of Israel, and the difficulties with Hamas, the PA is also finding that the U.N. is not as willing as they first believed.

And if the bid for a Palestinian State fails, the conflict with Israel may very well worsen.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called it like he sees it. "They're trying to get a state to continue the conflict with Israel rather than to end it. They are trying to basically detour around peace negotiations by going to the U.N."

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) added, "This is a very provocative, dangerous step by the Palestinians. It will not lead to peace, it will lead to instability. And it will push us back home in a bipartisan fashion to speak out."

"It will risk U.N. support by the American Congress. If (the Palestinians) go down the road of forming a government with Hamas, Fatah and Hamas government, Hamas is a terrorist organization, that will end U.S. help to the Palestinian people," Graham added.

Mass Grave Found in Tripoli

A mass grave has been uncovered in Tripoli which authorities there say contains the bodies of more than 1,270 people.

It is believed the bodies are from the 1996 massacre at the Abu Salim prison.

The uprising that toppled Gaddafi was ignited by protests linked to the Abu Salim massacre.

Saudi Women Gain Right To Vote. . . But They Still Can't Drive

In Saudi Arabia King Abdullah has decided to allow women to vote and run as candidates in local elections.

"We refuse to marginalize the role of women in Saudi society and in every aspect, within the rules of Sharia," Abdullah said, referring to the Islamic law that governs many aspects of life in the kingdom.

King Abdullah is considered a reformer, and the oil wealth combined with generous government handouts have protected Saudi Arabia from the unrest around the rest of the Muslim nations.

What few rumblings of discontent that have appeared have been largely centered on the eastern oil-producing region populated by the country's Shiite Muslim minority.

Knowing that King Abdullah wishes to not participate with the unrest that has been stirring in other Muslim nations, the women of Saudi Arabia have seized the opportunity, and have also staged public defiance of the kingdom's ban on female driving.

The sexes in Saudi Arabia also continue to be segregated in public.

The allowance of women voting is King Abdullah's way of quelling unrest before it rises. In the end, Saudi Arabia will be seen as the outsider, and the other Muslim nations may very well turn on Saudi Arabia.
