As Santorum Rides High, Bachmann Quits

"Game On!"

Romney beat Santorum in Iowa by a measly 8 votes.

Romney got 13 delegates out of it, and Santorum got twelve.

Now that Santorum has emerged as a front runner, watch the number of negative ads against him soar. . . especially negative attacks by the media.

I cracked up when I heard the liberal media, and even wacky-doodle conservative media types, are trying to attach a "Big Government" label on Santorum.

They don't even understand what Big Government is!

Also, think about this, the liberals and establishment types are trying to label Santorum as big government to hurt him. . . that is them admitting that big government is a losing proposition!

I remember Bob Beckel one time accusing someone of being big government because of their support for the VA.

Liberals can sure be idiots.

A Big Government is a government that expands beyond its authorities.  A limited government is one that stays within the authorities granted to it.  The federal government has the authority to provide for the common defense, making the military, and VA, constitutional. . . which means that is NOT big government.

Santorum's flaws are not him being big government. Of all the candidates, he is the least likely to be big government.  He has made mistakes, he has changed some of his beliefs, such as in regards to earmarks, but all in all, he is the most conservative of the remaining candidates.

My primary concern is Santorum's understanding of the Constitution, for in the first debate (Iowa Straw Poll) he made the statement that the federal government shouldn't allow a State to have state run health care programs. . . since when is it constitutional for the federal government to stop a State from doing something stupid like that?  Regardless of the wisdom, or lack thereof, of state-run health care programs, there is no authority granted for the federal government to dictate to States on that issue.

Michele Bachmann, after a poor showing in the Iowa Caucuses, has decided to hang it up.  Her goodbye speech was exceptional.  This will bode well for Santorum, since they were the two most conservative of the candidates.  Santorum will gain most of Bachmann's supporters.

Newt Gingrich is angry, and will start tearing into Romney to make up for the incredible amount of negative ads Mitt launched against Newt in Iowa.  This also will bode well for Santorum.  Romney will be hit hard by Newt, but Santorum will be able to keep his hands clean, benefiting from any damage Romney will suffer.

Santorum's numbers have doubled, and it looks like he will be the main anti-Romney candidate.

New Hampshire will probably belong to Romney, but don't be surprised if Santorum gives a good showing.

South Carolina will probably knock Perry out of the race, and his support will go to Santorum too.

Huntsman is a non-factor.

Ron Paul has rabid supporters, but his chances are about the same as his sanity - not looking good.
