New Year Brings New Fears by the Freaky People

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Some people believe we won't make it to 2013. December 21, 2012 is the end of it all. The Mayans said so - or didn't say so, depending on how you look at it.

This year also will  be when we line up with all of the planets with the center of the galaxy. That, too, has folks believing we are pretty much done for. This galactic alignment puts us in direct line with the giant black hole at the center of the galaxy, and we are being told that will bring massive solar storms, magnetic pole reversal, earthquakes, supervolcanoes, and other drastic natural events in 2012.

The New Age freaky people don't see 2012 as the end, but as a new beginning. Enlightenment. The year that humanity will undergo a drastic physical and spiritual transformation. Those not ready for the next level of human spiritual evolution will simply vanish.

Some Christian groups, or at least they claim to be Christian, believe that the Christian Rapture will happen in 2012 as well. . . which they say will explain the New Age assertion. Millions of Christians will vanish in an instant in this event. There could be advantages to that in some ways. Traffic would be better. The unemployment rate would improve. And the identity of the anti-christ would be revealed, letting Soros, Obama, Damien, Rosie O'Donnell, Joy Behar, Oprah, and Seth McFarland off the hook. . . just sayin'.

Personally, I am an optimist. I see 2012 as a new opportunity to turn this nation around, and return ever so slightly back in a direction nearer the original intent of the Constitution.
