Obama Administration: GSA Too Lavish In Las Vegas? It's Bush's Fault!

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The General Services Administration held a conference near Las Vegas in 2010, spending more than $840,000.  The Inspector General Office's report on the affair indicates that the White House knew all about it.  One of the videos from the investigation shows an employee joking about the whole thing coming under investigation, while another shows an employee performing a fake music video laced with jokes and references only federal employees will understand.

When it was revealed recently that General Services Administrator Martha Johnson and Steven Leeds, senior counselor to the administrator, were told in May 2011 about the investigation of the conference by the Office of the Inspector General, the two resigned promptly.

A White House official indicated on Fox News that the administration would take "bold, swift forceful action to hold those responsible accountable and put in place protections to make sure this never happened again.”

Obama's administration then argued the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House -- from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010, or just 28 percent under Obama - essentially blaming the high cost on the Bush administration.

This administration takes the blame for nothing.
