The Powers of Darkness

A friend sent me this image on Facebook, and it reminds us of what is really going on. I am not a big fan of the NIV, I read the King James Version, but the point being made in the image is apparent. . . the battle we are currently engaged in is more than just a political and social battle for the soul of America. The battle goes deeper, and the players are more sinister than most realize.

We are in a spiritual struggle for the soul of America, and this election can be either a turning point towards revival, or a deepening and strengthening of the powers of darkness.

Rather than get caught up in just the fight over ideology, which is an important battle, let's remember that the true struggle we are engaged in is an age old battle waged many times before - a battle that our Founding Fathers also waged.

This nation was founded on biblical principles that were so important to the early Americans that on the original national seal, they were considering putting a Star of David on it. Individualism, freedom, and independence are all Christian principles. Our Founding Fathers sought these principles as they battled the tyranny of the British Empire. Then, to ensure that such a tyranny didn't rise in our nation as well, they placed these principles in the Declaration of Independence, and later in our Constitution.

Natural Law was the driving force. We are a nation of laws, not a nation that is supposed to be ruled by the law of men. Human nature gravitates toward tyranny, so we must guard against our own natures, and deny the pressure of the temptation to turn our back on the Godly principles this nation was founded upon.

The final sentence in The Declaration of Independence reads, "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

As a voter do we have that same willingness? Are we willing to make a similar pledge?

Are we willing to fight for the principles this nation was founded upon?

The Democrat Party supports murdering the unborn, calling a sexual perversion a "normal" lifestyle, applying punitive taxation against success, and they originally dropped God, and the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, from their convention platform.

The liberal left has proven time and time again that they desire forcing faith into the four walls of the church, not to be seen in the public square, and they have turned their back on the Constitution. We are the final protection of freedom. We are the ones the Founding Fathers depended upon to protect the principles they put down on paper in the Declaration and the Constitution. In order to remain free, we must rely on the Constitution, and spread its message of freedom.

That is the Godly thing to do.

In addition to fighting the good fight, we need to also pray. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our future as a nation. Pray for our City and State governments. Pray for our church and community leaders.

It’s our America, and together, we can turn this around.
