Educating America About the Constitution

"Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country." --Noah Webster, On the Education of Youth in America, 1788

By Douglas V. Gibbs

In today's society, in the quote above, perhaps we should change the word "child" to the word "person," because it seems that few Americans are acquainted with their own country, and more specifically, with the principles upon which this nation was founded upon.  The colonists fought through adversity using their determination to survive through self-reliance, personal responsibility, and little government interference.  The American Revolution was fought to free the colonies from the shackles of big government in the form of the British Empire.  Americans didn't want gifts from the federal treasury - they wanted the new federal government to protect the union of States from all enemies, foreign and domestic, and for the States to retain their sovereignty as a result of the limiting principles of the U.S. Constitution - In other words, to create a central government strong enough to protect the States, but limited enough to keep its nose out of local issues.  Today, our system has become exactly what the founders fought against.  The primary reason for revolution was a response against direct taxation, mercantilism, illegal searches and seizures, an attempt by the British to seize the colonist's weapons at Lexington and Concord, and a tyrannical big government that considered any representation by the colonists in the British political system to be irrelevant.  Now, we have become exactly what we fought against. Direct taxation through the income tax, mercantilism through Obama's Cronie Capitalism, illegal searches and seizures by the IRS, attempts to take away our gun rights through Fast and Furious and treaties like the U.N. Small Arms Treaty, and a big government ruled by executive orders and regulatory agencies that consider our representation through Congress to be irrelevant, and an obstacle to their statist aims.

Education is the key.

If we understand what our government is supposed to be, and understand the power we have through the Constitution, we can turn this around - despite the voter fraud, and the tyrannical actions of the self-proclaimed ruling elite.  That education is available. I am teaching it at a gun shop in Temecula, California on Thursday nights, on BlogTalkRadio, and on AM Radio. All you must do is tune in, or attend.

Classes on YouTube are coming soon, and right now I have available a Newsletter that keeps you updated on what I am doing with my efforts, and loaded with articles, sometimes ones that are written exclusively for newsletter subscribers.

The Constitution Class, for those of you in Southern California, is at Faith Armory gun shop, 27498 Enterprise Circle West, Temecula, CA, at 6:00 pm on Thursday Nights.  Beginning in February the class will return to Calvary Chapel Murrieta for eight weeks.  Currently, we are working on establishing classes in Corona and Hemet.
