North Korea: The same old stuff, but worse

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I wrote in 2006: North Korea doesn't care that nobody appreciates the threat they pose. In fact, they are threatening to fire off more rockets.

The more things change, the more they stay the same - except now North Korea is even deadlier.

We've been trying to get the North Koreans to play nice since the fifties.  Clinton tried to placate them in the nineties.  North Korea's response has been to become nuclear capable and to test a rocket that could reach the U.S.

Talk, talk, talk - and the enemy gets worse.

Peace through strength.

The problem is, Obama believes in weakening the military, scaling down our military, and talking to tyrants with no pre-conditions.

Our missile defense system has been put on hold by Obama, as well.

Obama doesn't seem to understand that it is time to act.  It is time to deploy the Navy, using our might to check Kim Jung Un.  We need to treat tyrants with a strong hand, making it clear to them that we will protect our interests.

The democrats don't seem to be taking the threats around the world very seriously, and that emboldens those threats, and endangers America.
