California's SB53, Anti Gun Bill Goes After Ammunition

My California Assemblywoman is Melissa Melendez.  A Conservative Republican, being a part of the California legislature that is dominated by liberal democrats, for her it is like being caught in a den of wolves.

The anti-gun fervor in California makes no sense to me.  They are doing whatever they can to penalize law-abiding gun owners, despite the fact that the criminal element isn't going to care about laws, and will still get their hands on guns, and will still get their hands on ammunition.

It is like taking away the driver's licenses of law-abiding drivers because of the presence of dangerous drunk drivers.

Today, on my Facebook, I received this from Melissa:

Melissa Melendez
Senate bill SB53 is before us today. It says if you want to buy ammunition you have to get a permit first, among other things. Seriously people...

A commenter added: The ammo permit is $50 each time you go to make a purchase. It is for the cost of the background check....each time!

The reason for this is two-fold.  First, they figure since Supreme Court cases like Heller and McDonald has shown that States can't straight out ban guns, they will simply make it impossible to be a gun owner.  If you can't get ammunition, they reason, the gun is useless.  The second reason is so that they can find the unregistered gun owners.  If you must register to buy ammo. . .

This is insane.  The criminal element is jumping for joy.  In Britain, after they confiscated all guns in 1997, violent crime and home invasions skyrocketed.

The best defense against bad guys with guns are good guys with guns.
