Mexican Volcano Rattles Country

By Douglas V. Gibbs

In Mexico a volcanic eruption has caused delays to flights in and out of Mexico City's airport.  The Mexico volcano eruption spewed a plume of ash that reached a mile high, and the cloud of ash drifted over large parts of Mexico City.

The volcanic activity is located at the snow-capped Popocatepetl, and it has been causing authorities to put into place alert levels that are just short of evacuation order.  The alert level has been in place for 27 days.

The disaster prevention center advised people living around the volcano to wear long sleeves and use masks or cover their mouths and noses with a cloth.
