Sanctuary Cities Extremist To Head Obama Border Patrol?

by JASmius

And not just any sanctuary cities extremist, but the former police chief of the same city in which Kate Steinle was slain in cold blood by an illegal alien murderer this past summer.

Yep, he's being "the president I always wanted to be," alright:

Former San Francisco Police Chief Heather Fong, an advocate for sanctuary cities for illegal [alien]s, is being considered for chief of the Border Patrol, Fox News reports.

Fox quoted sources at the Border Patrol, Homeland Security and Capitol Hill as saying Fong is on a list of candidates to replace Mike Fischer, who announced in October he is resigning.

Fong would be the first outsider to lead the Border Patrol in the ninety years since the agency's founding.

"If they bring (a police chief) in for political purposes based on the sanctuary cities model, that politicizes the job and I think it completely undermines credibility and morale in the organization," Representative Mike McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee told Fox News.

Yeah, Mr. Chairman, I think that's probably the idea.  Of course, they could always be open and transparent about it and just abolish the Border Patrol outright and be done with it, but that would be in essence an act of government shrinkage, and leftists are congenitally incapable of that, so the next best thing is more "fundamental transformation".  Most likely a repurposing of the BP to keep American citizens in, not unlike the East German/Stasi guards who manned the machine gun towers on the old Berlin Wall.  I imagine Chief Fong would be ideally suited for that job.

But of course, they can't be open and transparent about anything, which leads to tiresome confabulations like this one:

The final decision on the new chief will be made by Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske, who said on Monday, "At this time, CBP has not begun the search for the Chief of the U.S. Border Patrol. It is completely false that any individual could be a potential candidate at this time. We are currently preparing the paperwork to begin the process."

And then Commissionar Kerlikowske will hire Heather Fong.  Because his gawky, big-eared boss told him to.

Not a Heinrich Himmler hire by any stretch of the imagination.  But a Reinhard Heynrich hire, perhaps?  Could be, could be.
