You Didn't Think Obama Would Attend Scalia's Funeral, Did You?

by JASmius

If there's one thing about which Barack Hussein Obama is consistent, it is tossing off the big "FU" to his declared enemies.  If Breyer, Ginsberg, Sotomayor, or Kagan, or past lib Justices like Jon Paul Stevens or David Souter, had kicked the bucket, he'd be delivering the eulogy, but since it's Scalia, he has an infinite number of "prior commitments":

Barack Obama will not attend Justice Antonin Scalia's funeral Saturday, the White House confirmed.

Instead, the president will pay his respects on Friday, when Scalia's body lies in repose in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court building. Vice President Joe Biden will attend Scalia's funeral at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the White House said Wednesday during a press briefing....

When asked whether Obama's Saturday plans include golfing, Earnest stressed instead that the president believes it is important to honor Scalia's life and service. [emphasis added]

Which means....Obama is going golfing instead.  One of the infinite number of "better things he has to do".

I suppose it's a more honest contempt then his attending and nodding off (as Biden doubtless will) or sneering and furtively and obscenely gesturing, as pictured above.  Time was when a POTUS was above such petty partisan/ideological tribalism, but We the People forfeited our honor long ago, and our choice of "leadership" depressingly reflects it.

Besides which, if I were part of Scalia's family, I think I'd prefer that O not profane the late Justice's memorial with his presence.  Biden being there will be bad enough.  Hey, if we're going to go tribal, it might as well be a two-way street.

My late father had a phrase that would be applicable to Obama, should he ever think of attending a Catholic church service. "If he walks in there, the statues will walk out."
