Operation Slow-Motion Iraqi Freedom?

by JASmius

Given that it took President Bush43 six months to move all his forces into position, Barack Obama might not have his in place until sometime in his seventeenth term, but Operation Iraqi Freedom II continues to glacially escalate against The One's bitter resistance:

A detachment of U.S. Marines was on the ground in Iraq to bolster U.S. and "coalition" "efforts" against the Islamic State in the wake of a rocket attack that killed a Marine Saturday, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

Rockets are short-range weapons, as I recall.  Begging the question of how ISIS fighters could have gotten that close to where a rocket attack could have been that effective.

A group of Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, or MEU, will join the U.S. "forces" already in Iraq "battling" the Islamic State, it said.

They can't be "battling" ISIS that hard if the latter can practically sneak into their base and blow up a Marine.

It was unclear how many Marines were being deployed to "strengthen" "defenses" at the "coalition" base near Makhmur in northern Iraq where the Marine was killed and a number of other people were injured.

Evidently the White House doesn't want the public to know that it's only one.  And that he's probably unarmed, just like the rest of his buddies in that "base".

For those of you down in the Gibbs Pocket, the Marine killed in "action" was Staff Sergeant Louis F. Cardin of Temecula, California.  Our deepest condolences, and try not to think about just how in vain he died.
