Electoral College Vote Hurts Hillary More Than Trump

Protester in Wisconsin is surrounded by
police as she screams at the electors.

In the past few weeks I have received a number of concerned questions regarding the Electoral College's meeting on December 19, and each time I told folks we have nothing to worry about.  Like the recount pushed by Jill Stein, the Electoral attacks by Hillary supporters not only did not sway the electors to stand against Trump, but it actually backfired.

Donald Trump easily, and as expected, got the votes needed to be the next President of the United States.  Even more interesting than crying protesters having a meltdown, however, was the fact that it wasn't Trump electors abandoning their vote as much as it was electors who were supposed to vote for Hillary Clinton that were deserting their votes, and trying to change their vote to other candidates.

In the case of the protesters freaking out, according to Real Clear Politics:
A woman lost control Monday afternoon when members of Wisconsin's electoral college delegation met to certify the results for Donald Trump.

“You sold out our country,” the woman screamed at the electors, standing up.
“Everyone of you, you’re pathetic. You don’t deserve to be in America.”
The crowd responded by chanting: "Shame, shame, shame."
"This is my America," the woman yelled.

MoveOn.org Executive Director Anna Galland said Monday evening that protests like this one were "a marker for what's to come."
So, what happens when Trump turns out not to be the Nazi, racist, America-destroying President of the United States these people are claiming he is?  Will they admit they were wrong?  Will they say to themselves, "Gosh, maybe I overreacted"?  Perhaps it will open their eyes to the poppycock the Democrat Party leadership puts out there.

Highly unlikely.  But, the low-hanging fruit will probably realize how stupid these Never-Trump people really are, and give Mr. Trump an even greater landslide victory in 2020.

After all of the smoke had cleared, there were a few defectors.  Two Texas electors deserted Trump, with one voting for Kasich and another choosing former Texas Representative Ron Paul.  Four 'faithless' electors cast votes in Washington State not for Clinton, comprising the total of Hillary electors abandoning her.  There were more attempts to abandon Clinton, however, but the States replaced them when they refused to vote for the Democrat candidate.

Once the 270 threshold was reached, Trump took to Twitter, again angering the press (as he has made it a habit of using social media rather than the mainstream media, to make an announcement).  Through his tweet, Trump confirmed his victory, writing: "We did it! Thank you to all of my great supporters, we just officially won the election (despite all of the distorted and inaccurate media)."

Congress will certify the Electoral College vote on January 6 and Trump will be sworn in on January 20.

During it all, the protesters were out in force demonstrating, and crying, and freaking out.  The electors, however, ignored them and voted for Trump anyway.

David Bright of Maine was supposed to cast his vote for Hillary Clinton, made an announcement he would defy the wishes of the State's voters and back Bernie Sanders, and then decided in the end not to change his vote away from Hillary because State officials told him he'd be replaced by another elector if he made that move.

In Minnesota an elector who was supposed to choose Clinton refused to vote and got replaced.

In Colorado an elector got replaced when he cast a vote for John Kasich instead of Hillary Clinton.

With so few electors rebelling against Trump, liberal left claims that Republican electors would defect has essentially made the Democrats look bad, and their claims look like nonsense.  And, in this day and age of massive losses by the Democrats, the last thing they need to be doing is looking even stupider than they have been with their failed leftist policies.

Bill Clinton was one of the electors in New York, and blamed the Russians for Hillary's loss as he cast his vote for his wife.
