Marijuana Legalization FAIL

By Douglas V. Gibbs
Author, Speaker, Instructor, Radio Host

I have not supported the legalization of marijuana, but at the same time as a constitutionalist I recognize the right of the States to make the decision to legalize it, if they desire.  There is no authority in the U.S. Constitution for the federal government to regulate or legislate drugs.

That said, the legalization of marijuana in some States has created an interesting "be careful what you ask for" moment.

On Constitution Radio, Bishop Ron Allen explained that heroine has become cheaper to buy than legal marijuana.  In the States where marijuana has been legalized for recreational use, the cost of the product has skyrocketed. As a listener of that episode of Constitution Radio explained, a listener who happens to be a lawyer, by the way, since marijuana is now legalized in some places, the growers are now required to pay minimum wage, pay for worker’s compensation insurance, and pay all of the other taxes and regulatory fees that accompanies owning a business in the United States.  As a result, an underground illegal marijuana market is emerging, and the use of more dangerous drugs has been increasing.

Now, also, according to a Reuters article on August 6, 2017, titled: Toxic Waste from U.S. Pot Farms Alarms Experts, “Pollution from illegal marijuana farms deep in California's national forests is far worse than previously thought, and has turned thousands of acres into waste dumps so toxic that simply touching plants has landed law enforcement officers in the hospital. The volume of banned or restricted pesticides and illegally applied fertilizers in the woods dwarfs estimates by the U.S. Forest Service in 2014, when a top enforcement official testified that the pollution was threatening forest land in California and other states.”

So, marijuana, as per the liberal left's desire, has been legalized, and as a result it is too expensive to smoke so they have to go back to buying it illegally to be able to afford it, and the illegal kind of weed they can afford creates an environmental nightmare that is on the rise as a result of their decision to legalize marijuana because the demand for illegal pot is on the rise...and these are the people who are the environmentalism champions.

Liberal leftists, you should have listened to us conservatives in the first place.

Be careful what you wish for, and quit smoking pot.  It's not good for you.  If you hadn't lost so many brain cells from smoking pot, you might have seen this catastrophe resulting from your decisions coming.  Then again, dude, maybe you wouldn't have.

1. Many, Many conservatives consume cannabis.

2. The locals due not trash their own land...these are people from other states and from others countries using these pesticides and trashing the land. They also dump their pets when they leave for the winter.

3. Many people don't smoke their pot they ingest it, vape it, juice it,
apply it as a oil to skin cancers, etc.

4. Please due more research before posting something like this...your credibility is a stake.

"cure" cancer? No, that is an assumption, not a proven fact. Relieve the symptoms of cancer? The drug numbs the individual to help them cope. If this is truly a medical benefit, fine, but treat the drug as any other drug, and ensure that it is given only on a prescription basis. As for any other benefit, marijuana is a drug, and once again, credible evidence shows that legalizing marijuana has increased use by minors in the States it has been legalized, crime has risen, and the use of more serious drugs as increased due to the affordability factor.
