Rumsfeld's Farewell

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld is on his way out of office. He resigned after the war policies he helped create came under severe scrutiny by the Democratic Party. After the recent publication of the Iraq Study Group Report which characterizes the situation in Iraq as grave and deteriorating, he visited this weekend with the troops in Iraq to thank both them and their families for the sacrifices they have made, and are still making.

Rumsfeld's last day as defense secretary is December 17. The end of his time in office is not his priority. Rumsfeld's priority is clearly wanting to keep the focus on the troops, supporting them for their efforts, and supporting our presence in Iraq.

Even the Iraqi government recognizes the idiocy of the Iraq Study Group Report for what it is, saying that the conclusion by the group that Bush's policy in Iraq is not working is in error. Iraq President Jalal Talabani denounced the report saying it offered dangerous recommendations that would undermine his country's sovereignty and that the recommendations were "an insult to the people of Iraq."

The departure of Rumsfeld from the political scene may be detrimental to our policies in Iraq, especially if Bush does not stand firm against the incoming liberal Congress.

This trip to Iraq for Rumsfeld is his 15th visit since the war began, and follows an emotional farewell on Friday at the Pentagon, where the defense secretary defended his record on Iraq and Afghanistan.

What a Patriot! A Great Man Indeed. Who could ever forget the images of Rummy pulling victim's out of the Pentagon on 9-11? The MSM hammered him, the loones on the left tried to destroy him, and the Troops Loved him. He served 2 Terms as Secretary of Defense. And he's STILL STANDING! Good luck in whatever the future holds for Rummy. He will be terribly missed, well at least by me.

Are you saying you don't support your Commander In Chief's decision?

  3. I don't support letting Rumsfeld go. I believe the decision was made because of the pressure from the left. I support Bush over any liberal, dear, but I don't think that everything he does is golden.

So Bush won't cave to the insurgents, but he'll cave to the liberals? Some leader ya got there.

  6. One of the things that bothers me about Bush aside from caving slightly to leftist pressure, being weak against the illegal alien invasion, and not using his veto stamp more often, is that like his father he is a globalist. Daddy Bush is a member of an organization called the Trilateral Commission that envisions a worldwide currency, and so forth. However, if I had a choice between Bush and Gore? I choose Bush. Bush and Kerry? Bush. Bush and Clinton (Bill or Hillary)? Bush. Not every Republican can be Reagan, unfortunately, but Bush still beats the heck out of any liberal leftist president in history, or any liberal that could potentially be president.

He reminds me of Ollie North a little. When Ollie goes to Iraq or Afghanistan, he always puts the troops first, giving them the spotlight and the credit. In his TV show he does the same thing.

That's what Rummy is trying to do and I respect him for it.

I hated watching Geraldo Rivera in Iraq, using the troops as a backdrop for his bloviating.

I will miss Secretary Rumsfeld - he was a great SEC DEF.

I posted pictures of his last trip to Iraq - you can see how much the troops love him!

So why is Bush your hero?

  10. Never said Bush was my hero - and I am aware that he is the one that let Rumsfeld go. I believe it was a mistake, and I believe letting Rummy go was as a result of political pressure beyond what us bloggers truly understand. Don't be so 2-dimensional, Mudkitty. You are too absolute. No politician makes me happy all of the time, but someone like Bush doing what he thinks is right rather than what the polls always dictate (though he is human, proven by his bending in regards to caving under pressure in regarding Rumsfeld) is a lot better than a liberal that supports running like cowards from the Middle East, betraying our ally (Israel), opening our borders to an illegal invasion from Mexico as well as allowing easier access to our nation by terrorists, murdering unborn children all the way up to full term, supporting the naming of streets after convicted cop killers (http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2006/roll527.xml notice all 31 nay votes were Dems), and supporting the death of the very values that founded this nation (you know, In God We Trust).

    Sad.

    I protest.

I was not profane, nor illogical, nor personal.
