About 30 thousand people gathered together today in Washington D.C. to stage a war protest. Among those present was a few members of Hollyweird. Jane Fonda was one of those celebrities that marched, claiming that it was her first anti-war demonstration in 34 years.
My, my, the more things change the more they stay the same.
Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Robbins were also present, and stepped up to the microphone.
Fonda drew parallels of the current war to the war in Vietnam. She claimed that veterans, soldiers, and their families are increasingly against the Iraq War. Every soldier I've met has told me the opposite.
I found it fascinating that the Associated Press article regarding this event was quick to report on children at the rally, as well as members of the military against the war, but failed to say anything about the counter-protest, or the fact that anti-war protesters were spitting on a disabled veteran of the Iraq War who supports the effort.
As expected, the mainstream media threw their own slant on the event and failed to provide the entire story.
Hi Doug,
ReplyDeleteDon't you mean Hanoi Jane Fonda? claiming that it was her first anti-war demonstration in 34 years, she should have stayed out of it, she got a lot of our troops in Vietnam killed among a lot of South Vietnamese.
Funny thing of it is, how much Hanoi Jane looked sitting on the anti-aircraft gun aiming at our fly-boys. Those Commie leftist.
I also find it fascinating that the Unassociated Press article regarding this event was quick to report on children of their commie parents at the rally, as well as members of the military against the war who are also leftist commies, but failed to say anything about the counter-protest, or the fact that anti-war protesters were spitting on a disabled veteran of the Iraq War who supports the effort.
Under Kerry's leadership, VVAW members mocked the uniform of United States soldiers by wearing tattered fatigues marked with pro-communist graffiti. They dishonored America by marching in demonstrations under the flag of the Viet Cong enemy.
The left is known for it's Pro-Communist ideals. They love dictators.
Not one politician made the event! Seems rather odd for the voices not to come, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteJane should have stayed out of it, but frankly, like Michael Moore helped sink the 2004 election, Jane, as a "voice" for the left will surely not help their cause.
ReplyDelete"Fonda drew parallels of the current war to the war in Vietnam." So, is she going to Iarq to chill out with the insurgents, help them plant some IED's?
We on the left don't place the same currency and importance on celebrity as rightwingers do. We just think that as citizens, they should be allowed their say, just like Jenn, or DG or anybody else.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, it was you guys who took a Hollywood guy like Reagan and made him president...same with Arnie.
Anyway, street protests are kid's stuff. That fact that the right gives it so much creedence, is what feeds the whole thing.
Anyway, regarding Fonda; like you rightwingers are always trying to tell us proud moonbats: GET OVER IT. MOVE ON. You know, like with slaver, Florida 2000, and Katrina.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't get over Jane Fonda - something that petty - then for goodness sake don't be telling us to get over anything.
Right Kitty, let me tell you 58,00 American dead, and Jane went to the North and sat on the guns that shot down John McCain and the North TORTURED him for 4 years, read his book, OK.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to forgive that And I think she hates America as much as you Kitten.
I do hope you donate to the Marines in Iraq Kitty, go look on my site. Put your money and mouth together and donate
I don't hate America Dave - please don't speak for me. It's because I love America that I oppose Bush & Co., and the Iraq Occupation and War., and many of the ideas you promulgate, which to my mind are Anti-American. It's bacause I love my country, my nation that I think and feel this way. So please Dave, don't mischaracterize me.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jane Fonda, she wasn't the person who sent McCain to Vietnam. Fonda made a mistake, sure, but the bigger, biggest, most IMMORAL mistake was waging the war in Vietnam in the first place (and that was Kennedy's fault.)
Same with the Iraqi occupation.
As for what and who I donate to, it's really none of your business. And you know nothing of my family and our military history.
And your way of thinking kitty= United States of Arab takeover. And likewise you have no idea what I speak of. I really doubt your whole modus operandi.
ReplyDeleteAnd since you are from the "me" generation I doubt you have seen a charity you could give too.
It's the Bush family who have ushered in the United States of Saudi America, and it saddens me greatly.
ReplyDeleteWhat generation are you from Dave? You are making statements derived from generalizations that have nothing to do with me, or with the left, or with the DemocratIC Party.
Please don't speak for me. I'm begging you.
Yet somehow Kitty, you feel you can speak for those on the left, and I'll say you do an admirable job.
ReplyDeleteSeems lately your ramblings have gone past "misguided" to just plain absurd. Try skipping the big words, and concentrate on content.
Sorry Doug, she's just been absurd today, and in fact this week. More than usual.
Kitty, you'd better tell Hollyweird and their ilk that they don't speak for you, from what I heard they claim they do. Ooops, I forgot, that includes you 'eh?
I am of the left, therefore I am qualified to speak, not only for myself, but for most of the left. And I know, and have enumerated several times here, and at the jungle, what the DemocratIC party stands for. If you don't like the messege, blame the messenger, as usual.
ReplyDeleteAs for your thinking about Hollywood/America, where I was born and raised, think again. And again. And again. Keep thinking. America's Hollywood California is the only business in the entire United States with a trade surplus.
But don't take my word for it, look it up.
I know a lot of troops that are against the way the war is being managed, it's not being prosecuted HARD ENOUGH for them, thats the only AGAINST I have heard...
ReplyDelete"I am of the left, therefore I am qualified to speak, not only for myself, but for most of the left."
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work then, because with you as their mouthpiece, they are bound to fail.
I second that Fred.
That goes double, Jenn. \
ReplyDeleteNo, I have never claimed to speak for anyone but myself. So, it indeed does NOT go double.
ReplyDeleteKitty, I believe I can type what I want. Quit commenting and then you'll have no worry. It's your choice to be in the WWW. Now as they say in the beloved Corps. Suck it up!
ReplyDeleteBesides this is not the MSM nightly news. you can't say shit then not expect to get away with it. Those days are over. Can't stand the heat, get outta the kitchen, Your jig is up and a life's tough. Save yourself!
And Kitty, Kiss my Astrick, you can't tell me squat! Like I said, no one invited you hear to puke you BS. You got nothin!
ReplyDeleteDave, don't even pretend I EVER said/wrote you can't "type what you want." That's just another purile mischaracterization, and a very, very unfair one at that.
ReplyDeleteWhy so personal, Dave?
Why such hate, Dave?
ReplyDeleteAs for TexasF - if you think the Bushies have any intention of actually winning this war, through intellegent management - well, that's not what this war was ever about. A protracted conflict was exactly what Cheney & Co. wanted. And it's what they got. That's just one reasopn us libs always refer to Bush and Co. as lying us into war.
ReplyDeleteBut at least you're admitting that the war has been mismanaged for the past 4 and a half years. But you don't let the people who screwed it up, fix it.
Sorry - A was me.
ReplyDeleteJust because I'm a HUGE fan of things like say, FACT, I'll point out your typical discrepency.
ReplyDeleteYou said:"the war has been mismanaged for the past 4 and a half years"
Quite impossible, as the war started on March 19th 2003. That would make it less than 4 years since the start. One thinks if you aren't even aware of the start date, there is so much more you are unaware of.
This war was in the making before it started, Jenn. If it wasn't, then things could be considered even worse.
ReplyDeleteYou just won't admit it's a quagmire. You can't fix what you don't acknowledge.
Also Jenn, what I have to say about you and your relationship to fact, is something I would rather say on your website, than on DG's.
ReplyDeleteI know, I know, I actually use fact when arguing a point and it frustrates you. Sorry. Maybe if you tried it sometime, instead of reverting to ad hominem attacks on the character of rightwingers and the current administration, we could really have some meaningful discourse.
ReplyDeleteWell Jenn, where would you like to start, as I always have to ask you. In terms of meaningful discourse. In terms of being specific.
ReplyDeleteJenn, you see me as a something less familiar than a Martian. You don't even think I'm human.
"What do they" - meaning liberals "want..." you ask, as if we are insects. All we want is what everybody else wants, which is Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness and Property.
But beyond even that, what we lib/conservatives want is Peace & Prosperity. Imagnine that! You know, like during the Clinton Administration.
From now on it's libs and conservatives together. All the
reactionaries and rightwingers are going to find themselves rapidly on the outside.
Yes, let's return to the "Peace" of the Clinton administration when were attacked with regularity and did nothing about it. (See: New York, Tanzania, The Cole etc...)
ReplyDeleteThe prosperity of the the Clinton administration where at the end of his term the jobless rate was 6.5% and here we sit @ 4.5%. When the highest the Dow ever got was 11,600 in 1996, and we now have a high of 12,673.Gold up to record highs, consumer confidence exploding...
I could go on and on. The ecomomy is fine.
Come on Kitty, I think you're human, I just don't agree with anything you say or the way you say it.
Truth be told I'm a Republican, and if the way I think or feel puts me on the outside, then I'm fine with that. Being in the majority doesn't always make you right.
Just because one group of people is a little louder and receives more media exposure, it does not make them the majority.
ReplyDeleteJenn, you're a republican? I'm shocked! How's that working out for you?
ReplyDeleteDG - I find your post to be somewhat of a non-sequiter? Please clarify.
Frankly, in terms of media exposure, I'd rather it be on the lies and crimes of the Bush Administration, then on a wide open field for the DemocraTIC Party nominations.
Hint, the main stream media is corporate driven.
If I were you, and if you're in the market, I would get out now, while you're on top.
Just reporting the facts on this one, Mudkitty. Nonsequiter? I thought it followed a logical path to the point, myself, but if you don't like what you read, read Associated Press' version. I'm sure their liberal slant on the events would be much more to your liking.
