Hotel Bombing in Pakistan

In Peshawar, Pakistan, militants attacked security guards, and drove a vehicle filled with explosives through the gates of a five-star hotel. The blast killed at least eleven people, and is reported to have wounded at least seventy.

The blast left a crater 6 feet deep and 15 feet wide, collapsing the western side of the hotel. The attack follows threats by Taliban leaders, who have warned Pakistanis that they were preparing "major attacks" in large cities. It is also believed the attacks are in retaliation for the ongoing campaign against the insurgents in militant controlled territories.
