Ahmadinejad Wishes To Meet With Obama With Pre-Conditions

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Remember when Barack Obama said he would meet with Iranian President Ahmadinejad with no pre-conditions? Republicans went nuts over that. How can any president approach a bargaining table with no chips?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agrees, and has voiced that he is willing to come to the negotiations table with President Barack Obama, with the pre-condition that his country's nuclear program is off the table, saying: "Iran’s nuclear issue is over. We will never negotiate Iran's undeniable rights."

Well, there you go Mr. Obama. The enemy is willing to talk with you, and is dictating terms along the way.

Iran is developing nuclear weapons, and Israel knows it. Israel has been preparing for a strike against Iran for some time now, and Iran is preparing for such a strike because they know that despite the fact they have fooled the rest of the world that Iran has abandoned their aspirations for nuclear weapons, Israel has not bought the lies.

Ahmadinejad would like to discuss worldwide matters with Obama possibly to also play a little misdirection, hoping that such talks may soften the fact that the U.N. General Assembly is due to meet later this month to decided on what to do about Iran's insistence on enriching uranium as part of its nuclear development program.

Maybe he is hoping it'll be like the beer summit, and everyone will walk away with a "little better understanding of each other," and a beer buzz to boot.

Oh, wait, that's right, Ahmadinejad's Muslim religion prohibits him from drinking alcohol, or at least while everyone is looking.

I wonder if Ahmadinejad will be willing to talk about the disputed election to Obama, and Iran's iron fist treatment of those that protested in the streets?

If Ahmadinejad doesn't wish to talk about Iran's nuclear intentions, then what does he wish to talk about? Does he think Obama will give him an I-Pod filled with Barry's speeches as he did for the Queen of England? Is the Iranian leader hoping for a gift of DVDs that he can't play in his player from Obama, as Barry gave the British Prime Minister? Perhaps he is just hoping that Barry will bow to him as he did to the Saudi King, and pledge his undying alliance to Iran.

Whatever the reason, unlike Obama, Ahmadinejad has made it clear: He will only come to the bargaining table with the pre-condition that his nuclear aspirations are not a part of the talks.
