Democrats Making Charities Extinct

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Do you remember how last February Obama and gang decided there was a discrepancy between the percentage that can be written off as a tax deduction between the wealthy and the not-so-wealthy in regards to giving to charity, so they decided the percentages needed to be made the same? Obama decided to propose a reduction in the percentage that can be written off on taxes to 28 percent for families making more than $250,000 - which is in line with the percentage the lower incomes receive for charitable donations. In an effort to create equity, the consequence was that the new limits on charitable tax deductions for wealthy people could dampen the willingness to give to charities at a time when charities are under severe strain because of the economic downturn. In fact, Several billion dollars were expected to be lost in charitable gifts because of the tax proposal.

The attack against charities, and the attempt to kill off charitable organizations, was no accident.

Now, The Washington Post is reporting that with an onslaught of additional people needing help due to the economic difficulties folks are facing, and the lessening of incoming charitable gifts, has put charities into a very difficult position. The situation is dire, and charities are struggling.

Obama and the Democrats welcome this news. You see, I believe they have a real problem with charities, because the Democrats want the government to be the sole giver to the poor. They don't like competition, and they are more than willing to allow charities to die out, and for food stamp usage, and other social welfare programs, to become more depended upon by the American People.

A society on welfare is more easily controlled, and manipulated. And once they get the people into a government run health care system, as well, yet another notch in the journey towards communism will be complete. Besides, the Democrats reason, if they can make the people dependent on the government, and the GOP continues to be against those programs that the people are becoming dependent upon, the Democrats believe they would then remain in power in perpetuity.

And isn't power what it is all about with the Left?

What a great web log. I spend hours on the net reading blogs, about tons of various subjects. I have to first of all give praise to whoever created your theme and second of all to you for writing what i can only describe as an fabulous article. I honestly believe there is a skill to writing articles that only very few posses and honestly you got it. The combining of demonstrative and upper-class content is by all odds super rare with the astronomic amount of blogs on the cyberspace.
