U.S. Government Goes After Bloggers Regarding Christmas Day Terror Attempt

By Douglas V. Gibbs

As the U.S. Government licks its wounds over the failures of their national security policies in light of the attempted terror attacks over Detroit, the wise government officials have decided to go after bloggers who wrote about a directive to increase security after the incident.

Specifically, TSA special agents served subpoenas to bloggers Steve Frischling and Chris Elliott, demanding that they reveal the name (or names) of who leaked a security directive to them. Apparently the directive was not supposed to be disclosed to the public.

The bloggers claimed the information was sent to them by an anonymous source by Email. The TSA directive in question outlined new screening measures that went into effect the same day as the airliner incident, and included a list of people who would be exempted from the new screening procedures, like heads of state and their families.

The concern from TSA is not only regarding the fact that this particular document was released, but that this is the second time in a month that the TSA has found some of its sensitive airline security documents on the Internet.

You would think, however, among all of their worries, going after bloggers would be at the bottom of their list.

Just sayin'.
