Connecticut Power Plant Explosion Results in Casualites

An energy power plant in Middletown, Connecticut is the sight of a massive explosion late this morning. The explosion at the unfinished power plant happened during a test of natural gas lines. The cause of the explosion, however, remains unknown. The blast killed at least five, and injured more than a dozen people.

Crews are currently sifting through the debris to locate any survivors.

Witnesses claim there were 50 to 60 people in the area when the explosion happened, and there may have been more injuries than initially reported. The conditions of the injured have not been released yet, but ranges from minor injuries, to very serious injuries.

The blast shook houses for miles.

The construction of the energy plant was 95 percent complete.
