California is in a drought. It seems like we are always in a drought. The Diamond Valley Lake was constructed to help in such times of water shortage. Yet, mandatory water conservation is in effect, and the Water Nazis - Uh, I mean city code enforcement people, are scouring the neighborhoods looking for violations.
In Los Angeles, the city has been hammering the populace quite heavily with strict water conservation rules, as has the Inland Empire cities of Temecula and Murrieta. In L.A., as the water shortage continues, the city has been plagued with a steady diet of water main breaks. It turns out that the combination of old pipes, and a fluctuation in water pressure do to the severe water conservation strategies, have been apparently causing the rash of water main breaks the Los Angeles area has been suffering from as of late.
But to give you an idea of how insane the laws are, I have been warned a couple times for watering my lawn more than twice per week, and got busted one time for hosing off my car (not washing it, just hosing it off). My neighbor, however, was recently cited for his lawn not being green enough.
Government idiocy at its worst.
