Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder was killed in Iraq. At his funeral the Westboro Baptist idiots protested, and then later a federal appeals court decided to require the father of Snyder to pay more than $16,000 in legal fees to the Westboro Baptist Church. Why? The group, described as a Christian fundamentalist group and they are nothing of the sort (in reality they are Calvinists, which explains a lot) who demonstrates often at military funerals, won a case (after an appeal reversed the original decision in Snyder's favor) that was brought originally against the Westboro Church for causing the elder Snyder emotional distress at his son's funeral.
Snyder refused to pay, and I don't blame him.
